Okay, I think 6 am is early enough. Some stores are opening at 4 am. :scared1: What is the purpose of this? Is it to get as many shopping hours in for a day or what? Don't the retailers realize that people, well most people, do not shop all day long? They go at 4 or 5am and shop for a few hours and then go home.

JCPenny is opening at 3:30 this year. The outlets where I live open at midnight...and offer an extra % off if you wear your pajamas! Me...I perfer the online black friday sales! They are always pretty good too!

They are all fighting to get your $$ first. They figure if they are the ones who open earliest, you will go there and then opt not to try to go anywhere else and also leave a load of cash behind.

Is this a Prime Outlet? I live just a couple miles from the one in Grove City, PA. I've never went to the midnight sales but know a lot of people who do. I give my husband my online list and then I hit the stores about 5AM.

I guess they think people will have fallen asleep after they eat their turkey dinners at lunchtime on Thursday. So, after a 5 pm bedtime they'll be fresh and awake running laps around the malls at 3 am...:rotfl2:

Competition. If Kohl's opens at 4, shoppers will go there first (yeah, yeah, I know - after that JCPenney, and the Disney Stores, and the 24-hour pharmacies :)).

Kohl's is hoping to get MOST of your/our/everyone's shopping dollars, before you/we/they have the opportunity to spend the money somewhere else.

Plus, why not open early? Watch the news this evening. Chances are, there will be at least one report on each local news channel of shoppers lined up - even camped out - already at the stores. If people are willing to devote that much time to the possibility of getting that special something, why NOT open early?

I wish they would open earlier. I am usually out the door for work around 2:30 AM, going to Kohls at 4 lets me sleep in. I completely agree, it is a race to get your dollars first.

As for my local Kohls, they go from swamped to just busy sometime early in the day, but the lot stays full til midnight.

I work at Penney's, and our advertized opening is 4 a.m., but store mgrs. sometimes decide to open earlier. Last year my store mgr. decided to open up about 1/2 an hour earlier than advertised because there were so many people waiting outside our doors by 3:30. The only problem was I was still putting jewelry out into the cases and I was the only sales associate on the floor:headache: . I've worked in retail for over 30 years, and this was the first time I was actually scared-there were probably 100 people running towards me. The store mgr. went back into her office after she opened the doors:sad2: .
I'm working the opening shift again this year. The only good thing about it is that mgt. lets me decide the length of my shift since I'm the only one they can get to come in that early. I'm done by 9:00 a.m.:thumbsup2
I'm expecting it to be really crowded from 4-6 until the Target nearby opens, then we'll have a little lull until 9 or 10 a.m. Hopefully no one will knock me down this year!

I believe K-Mart in the past has been open 24-hours (my sister used to work there). Not sure about this year.

We are re-opening where I work at 6 or 7 am tomorrow morning. I am going in at 5 am - but only to get the weekly sales tags up before they open. We have only three items that people might wait outside for (HDTV TVs, DVD player and something else- I can't even remember this early, lol).

I have never shopped on Black Friday. 4 am is too early to shop for me anyway. I am working from home tomorrow so I will be looking for online sales. I need some gifts for my 3 year old.

KMarts (and other stores) that are open 24 hours will be open 24 hours. Units in any chain that are open certain hours will, Friday and Saturday, open at the earlier advertised hours - but they will not be open 24 hours. That requires permitting/zoning changes or exceptions.

I'm a late owl rather than an early bird, lol. I wish the stores would all just open at midnight then I can get all my shopping done and be home in bed by 2am. There is no chance I'm going to go to bed by 9 or so to get up by 3am to get to Kohl's by 4am. I have yet to decide what I'm doing. I may just stay up all night and then come home and go to bed when I'm finished shopping.

I'm going to let my mouse do my shopping :lmao: I refuse to get up that early even for good sales! Last year, I found what I needed at 10 am when I went to Kohl's - I've done most of big shopping already so I'm just looking for an outfit for the couple of holiday parties we're going to and stocking stuffers!

Happy Shopping those of you that are getting out early!;)

To give their sales associates who don't want to deal with family a good excuse to get out of it. :rotfl: Especially a family like mine that puts dinner on the table at 7 pm. It works like a charm every year, or it has since I started doing the parade.

I'm in at 4 tomorrow for a 5 am opening, it's about winning the most customers the earliest. The sad part is, unless you want the year's hot item, the sale prices won't be any much different at 4 pm and the crowds will be long gone. And yes my riot gear is packed, I'm the one who has to change the credit events in the lobby doors before opening, and I don't have the keys to open them.

Does anyone know when pac sun opens up? I am hoping later. They are having an incredible sale and my daughter wants to spend her birthday gift cards there.

Maybe since a lot of people work on black friday? I know my office isn't closed. In previous years I've always shopped then went in!

I'm headed to the outlets tonight, they open at Midnight!! I figure I have nothing else to do, and need some stuff from xmas tree shop
