Why do the monorail cars stink?

The monorail smell is very similar to the Polynesian smell - which leads me to believe it is mold/mildew. The air contditioning, esp. in the summer monthes, causes much condensation, which seeps into the carpet & the cracks in the upholstrey(sp?) (which I have noticed more of the last couple trips)
Mix that with sweaty people smell & accidental spills, body fluids included, cut-backs in staffing to achcieve a "favorable bottom-line for our stockholders" & Viola! You have Monkey House Monorail Smell......

The reason the Boston (or most other) subways stink is that people pee down there, notably in secluded parts. Teens do it "to be fresh or funny", vagrants do it as part of their homeless life down there, etc.

Every now and then I hear of some city bus driver being disciplined for pee-ing inside the bus while waiting at an unattended terminus, especially through a gap at the rear door. And I would not be surprised if teenagers pee inside city buses too, at the back when no one is watching. People don't realize that there is a fine spray that splashes all over the place.

Suppose WDW put video cameras in some of the monorail sections.

GROSS.

Not to hijack the thread, but yesterday after work we were waiting at the subway station here in Boston. We were in the furthest corner, as that tends to be where least people get on and the cars have available seats.

Two men, probably drunk, exited a train that was too crowded for us to fit on. They said Hi to us and we smiled and basically assumed they were your average crazy guys on the train....zany but basically harmless. Finally after a few minutes of hand signals and "code" words, we figured out that the guy had to urinate and rather than going upstairs to the restroom near the token booth, he planned to do so right there on the waiting platform.

Needless to say we moved away, all the way to the other end. We alerted a security person, but she didn't appear that concerned.

No wonder these places smell like pee.

EWWWWW.

But to think people do this at WDW....that's just terrible.

How funny this post is here! Mom, hubby, and I had a very long and humorous conversation about this. Someone said it smelled like a zoo - that was our exact phrase! :)
