Why do some people hate cats so much?

I'm not gunna lie...I really do HATE cats. I find them smelly and sheady (a new word I just created). I also find their meows/other noises to be darn obnoxious. And I find that they either sit there like a lump or follow you around constantly which also annoys me. And nothing is more annoying than when they rub themseleves up against your leg. Yechhhh.

I agree with the counter tops thing. I mean, I don't think most people think about it but they are carrying so many germs walking in their litter w/poop and pee then climbing on tables and counters where food is served.

And not to be gross but we all know that their anus is exposed, and that usually has some dung on it. That goes right against the counter, couch whatever they are sitting on. (I'm sorry but you asked OP!)

But they are really cute to look at! :)

Someone recently sent me this, I thought it was funny:

Where do pets come from?

A newly discovered chapter in the Book of Genesis has provided the answer to "Where do pets come from?"

Adam and Eve said, "Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you any more. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us."

And God said, I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love fo r you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves."

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve.

And it was a good animal.

And God was pleased.

And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail.

And Adam said, "Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal."

And God said, " I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him
DOG."

And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them.

And they were comforted.

And God was pleased.

And Dog was content and wagged his tail.

After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, "Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well."

And God said, I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration."

And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.

And Cat would not obey them. And when Adam and Eve gazed into Cat's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.

And Adam and Eve learned humility.

And they were greatly improved.

And God was pleased.

And Dog was happy.

And Cat didn't give a (crap) one way or the other.

Ok, all you cat haters don't get frightened when you see the picture at the bottom of my post. Ok, sorry I am just kidding.

I love both cats and dogs but some of the reasons to dislike a cat sound legitimate but some can be debated. Dogs lick themselves and looooove to give slobbery kisses. What about that whole eating poop thing that some dogs do?
Why are cats considered dirty (just curious, not trying to be confrontational)?

Sooo, dogs don't have anuses? They're not exposed?

I have a dog as well as two cats. And yep - my dog has an anus.

Some older folks think they will climb on babies and suck their breathe out. This is an old wives tale.

I love cats. So did my grandfather but he would never let the cat into a room with a sleeping baby.

Yes, dogs do have anuses but most of them are not in your face like a cat's. Example:

I think if I posted the pictures I found I would probably get a violation, so I'm not doing it. But just look at your own cat's or do a Google search.

I don't hate them. I wish they would not use my lawn/yard/flower beds as their personal litter box. Thank you.

They don't suck the breath out but they can climb in the crib and snuggle close to a newborn's face, suffocating them. Almost happened to my sister when she was a baby. Cats near newborn's cribs and bassinettes are a no no for me.

Most dogs can't climb into a baby crib. Cats are nimble and are great climbers and jumpers.

Why I like cats more than dogs:
At the time I was living with 2 friends, one day one of them decided to "surprise" us with a puppy.... awww isn't that cute! I had 2 cats and they seemed to get along fine. One day while cleaning the litter box I wondered why it seemed surprisingly clean.. the answer came a while later when I caught the dog helping himself to the cat poop treats (I'm just guessing this is what he thought they were) out of the litter box! From then I decided no matter how much my cat licks it butt to stay clean its no were near as bad as a dog eating poop from the litter box and licking all over your face!:lmao:

Since I am in the minority once again i'll chime in. I HATE cats. eew and ugh!! I find them gross but I am also allergic to them, crazy allergic too. I think the thing that bothers me too, well the most really is that cats get on everything and anything, on your counter tops, on your beds, on y our couches, hall table, everything. Then I hate the smell and fact that they pee and poop in a box INSIDE the house. I really dont want to think that maybe there will be something in the chicken i left on the counter, or perhaps it licked the water in the glass I left on my dining table.

Dogs don't jump and walk all over your counter, and my dog doesnt jump on my bed or couch and when i lived at my mom's house, the dog knew to not come into my room. Maybe hate is a strong word but yeah ugh! And this is a bad thing but I really hate having to eat from or at a person's house who has cats cuz all I can think about is eeww where has this cat been. Theres only a couple of friends and a cousin that I know are very clean and doesnt bother me as much.
Its funny cuz when I saw this thread all I could think about was a couple of months back there was a thread about a cat walking accross someone's pizza and that is the first thing i thought of when i saw this thread....GROSSS!!!!

A very good friend of ours is a State Trooper and he can not stand cats, for this reason alone........If you die in your house and it is a few days before someone finds you, your dog would curl up next to your side, but your cat would eat you....he says that is reason enough to not like them. (he had a "scene" like this on the job a few years ago)
Me I love my dog and my cat!

I love cats, and I can understand why some people might not especially care for cats, but there are alot of people that just hate them.:confused3

Can a cat hater please chime in? No flames - I just want to know what you hate about them. They're just so lovable and entertaining to me and I need an education.;) :cool1:

I think the better question is "Why do cats hate people so much?"

I don't hate cats but I'm not really fond of them either. Maybe I just haven't met the right cat yet, but I volunteer at an animal shelter and have met a lot of cats there in addition to all my friend's cats throughout the years. Every cat I've met bolts and hides the entire time I'm there or lurks around in the background doing something sneaky. I just don't see the point in getting an animal who has no ability or desire to be an affectionate part of the family. Sorry cat lovers. Like I said though, maybe I just haven't met the right cat yet.

Why does it matter if someone hates cats as long as they're not cruel to them:confused3 . I honestly don't like any house pets that aren't kept in a cage. I hate the hair on furniture, clothes etc and the smell. No matter what people think, if they have cats or dogs their house smells. Some aren't that bad but others are horrible.

Me I love my dog and my cat!

In your case, your dog would protect you from the cat (kidding, of course! But your dog probably would!)

:lmao:

As far as cats not liking people, well haven't met a cat yet that I can't get to "come" to me...:thumbsup2
I have more trouble with the DOG!

Maybe it is a "sense" or something, I swear it. :confused3

DH HATED cats until he met me, he was attacked as a small child. We always had cats. One day he wanted to bring home a cute grey kitten he fell in love with and then it was over.
He now prefers cats over dogs.:lmao: But I am now allergic and so is younger dd...:sad1:

I love cats and always have.
My Mom never liked cats at all, until one made one into our home and her heart. I remember though before that she would say how sneaky they were and how they would jump on everything.
Now she lives her life around her cat.

I certainly don't *hate* cats, but I really, really don't like them at all. I can't stand walking into a house and smelling cat, cat pee and kitty litter. I don't like how moody they can be and I've seen some vicious scratches from them. I can't stand how they get up on all of the furniture, countertops, cars, etc. I can't stand having cat hair all over the place. They are just not my kind of animal. ;) I can't imagine having any affection at all for them. They just aren't loveable to me. :confused3 That being said, I would never wish any harm upon them. I just don't want them around me.

I am much more of a dog person. ;)

This was SO me up until I was about 21, 22. We had always had dogs growing up, big dogs. I couldn't stand cats! Then I met a cat named Pinky and got converted. Now I still like dogs but can't imagine ever having one again. I just LOVE cats. I was just a "cat person" who had lost her way, but now I'm on the right pet path. :thumbsup2
