Why do so many things default to Shop Disney Parks App

Ok, so I must be doing something wrong. So many times I am trying to get somewhere on MDE, it takes me to Shop Disney Parks. This only happens on my phone. Now I am trying to customize my magic bands. I can't find that option in MDE so I went to the DVC site and clicked in customize magic band. Sure enough it took me to Shop Disney Parks.

Am I the only one with this problem? Can anyone help? TIA

You can try posting this on the theme parks board. There are many people over there knowledgeable about MDE.

Sounds like you clicked to purchase a band rather than customize the ones coming to you with your resort stay.


Customizing happens on the full site, in case you’re using the mobile site.

No, definitely did not click on purchasing a band. In fact, I was on the full site (on my phone), clicked on the customize your magic band link and it took me to shop Disney Parks. When I go on to the full site from my computer I don't have the same problem. It just seems that so often when I try to do something Disney related on my cell phone it takes me to shop Disney parks app.

I'm going to assume that you're on an Android phone. Probably Samsung. What I believe happened is just that you set the default app for Disney websites to the Shop app. Easy fix!

1. Go to your phone Settings
2. Go to the Apps section in there
3. Click on the Shop Disney app
4. I'd force stop the app at this point, though it probably isn't necessary
5. Scroll down to "Set As Default" and click it
6. Click the Clear Defaults button

That should get rid of the app opening with MDE links. NOW...

7. Go to MDE
8. Click the Magic Bands link
9. You should get a little "what app do you want to use" popup. Make sure you select your browser of choice (Chrome, Internet, or what have you)

All done.

Thanks Speeb. That was not quite it, but you pointed me in the right direction. In fact, you pointed me to things I didn't even know existed. There was one added step. Also under the set as default tab , I had to go to the Go to supported URLs tab and I clicked on "always ask" and it's fixed!! Thanks so much for the help!
