Why do Restaurants not mention the cost of alcoholic drinks on their menus?

Im curious as to why they would only list the cost of a beer however not mention the cost of the Margarita that is just above the beer. Is it because is socially incorrect to list the cost? Is it correct for me to ask the cost?

Now keep in mind I am not expecting them to list the price of every single alcoholic drink however if they bother to mention it on the menu why not also mention the price.

Because they're overpriced and they sell more if you don't know the price beforehand.

Some do.

Those that don't want you to order anyway. If the drink is too expensive, and you notice that, you're less likely to order.

I was reading in some states they have passed a law that is required for restaurants to mention the cost.

Jana I can understand what you mean however at the same time I dont think is right not to know what I am paying when I make the order.

No price actually makes me NOT order drinks. I'd like to know up front what I'm apt to pay.

The price of alcohol fluctuates like the price of gas.

They dont print the price because then they would be liable to have to sell it to you at that price. Because the prices change so frequently they aren't printed.

But I know EXACTLY what you mean, it's so frustrating to have no clue what they are going to charge you. Plus the charges can vary waiter by waiter.

Such as at a certain steak house, I will sometimes order a drink made as a double, well according to the bar manager if I order it as a double pour it's only $2 more, but some clueless waiters who doesn't know what button to push will send the order as two separate drinks and will be charged $7 twice for the same drink, making it a double.

If you have to ask then you can't afford it.

Disney is guilty of this too and it bothers the heck out of me.

If the price of alcohol can change why is it some restaurants list it while others don't? Wouldn't beer prices also change? Also how often are these prices changing?? It could not possibly be that much that it would inconvenience a restaurant from having to change 1 page on the menu.

Sometime, in the case of a margarita specifically, it can depend on which tequila you want in it. Some places let you choose the tequila, so a higher priced tequila would change the cost of the margarita.

May also be something to do with drinks being made w/ different brands. It will cost more to order the same drink w/ a call brand versus a well brand. There's probably even a difference within some of the call brand pricing.

So how difficult is it to ask "how much is a margarita?" :confused3
