Why do people leave their curtains open at night?

I pass a lot of houses on my way home where their living room curtains are open and you see the TV on. I mean, no light is coming in so what's the point?

We always had/have our curtains/blinds open even at night. A window is to look in/out as well as to let in/block out light...

I open my curtains every morning when I get up, and close them once it starts to get dark.

I prefer my blinds open. the only time they are down is if we are changing or trying to sleep.

I live in the woods, so I don't even have curtains! It does bother me a little when I drive down a city street though, and see into the houses. It doesn't bother me if there aren't folks visible and it is a living or dining room, but I hate to see TVs and folks sitting around.

we always have ours open unless we are changing or something. i like to look outside. :) i feel to closed in if everything is all closed up.

I always think that people could be "stakeing out" the house....I know if someone wants to rob you they will do it anyway....but having such a clear view in when it is dark out and light inside just shows them how large your big screen TV really is...lol

Okay...now I"m going to admit to being a "peeping Tom" because if we're in an area where there are really nice homes (like the ones we'll never be able to afford), I tell my DH to slow down because I like to look in their homes if their curtains are open!! He thinks I'm strange but I figure if they like to leave the curtains open & have their light on inside, they know that people can see inside!! So I'm a lookin'! ::yes::

Teehee Mishetta.....as soon as it gets dark, I pull the curtains....when I get up in the morning, I open them... it is so dark around here, I do not like leaving them open at night... scares me.. ;) :D

Me too, me too!! I like to see other models like ours all lit up and open for viewing so I can see how people have modified them or decorated them. We live in an area where alot of people have either added on or completely changed the original style of their home. Since we are always contemplating doing this ourselves, I'm always looking for "ideas" ;) .

PLEASE CLOSE THE CURTAINS!

I was driving to a friends house when I saw a for sale sign in front of this house I always like. So when I was looking at it I noticed this man sitting down. The problem was he was on the toilet! Could not drive away fast enough. That was a low window.:o

I look too. I don't look in windows in the daytime, but at night time when they're lit up like a stage I look. My sister forgets to close her blinds sometimes - she lives on the first floor on a busy street. I worry for her safety - I feel like she's "inviting" people into her space and just asking for trouble. I think people forget and think that because they can't really see outside that people can't see them. I became very aware of this in my old neighborhood when I would walk in the evenings - there were lots of elderly people who didn't close their blinds.

That said, now I don't have to close my blinds because I am surrounded by trees.

Sometimes I leave mine open. I never even think about it.

I am too lazy to change something unless it is bothering me. So, usually the blinds are closed unless I need a lot of light for something, then they stay open until I am doing something that demands privacy and I close them. Could be days later. Then, they stay closed till I need light again.

I don't care if someone wants to watch me watch TV. If it is that exciting for them, let them look. What do I care. And if it bothers them to see that, then DON'T look in my windows.

I had to LOL when I read this post!

When DH and I are out on the boat and are going back into the slip it's quite a ways that you have to go slow because there's No Wake....I Love to look in all the houses along the shore. They are huge and they never pull their shades at night. It amazes me to see how people decorate or see them sitting watching TV or eating dinner.
I don't have shades on my bedroom windows in the back of the house, maybe I should get some. You never know what sick-o is lurking! LOL

I'm another who loves to look inside houses that are all lit up and the curtains are wide open. :teeth: :teeth:

Mine usually get closed as soon as it starts getting dark, sometimes sooner. We get heavy sun during the afternoon, so will close the curtains then.

I always keep my blinds in my front living room window open. There are only 3 other houses on the cul de sac so there really arent many people going by. And if anyone sees in, they arent going to see much, so I dont really care. I just see no reason to bother to close them. I never really thought about it.

Add me to the list of lookers. I like to see how people have decorated.
