Why do people leave shopping carts in the parking lot?

054.JPG

Well, on one particular day back in January, THIS http://wallyworldmom.blogspot.com/2009/01/no-wonder-nobody-uses-cart-corrals.htmlis why I didn't return my cart to the cart corral. For information sake: this photo was taken on Tuesday. The snowstorm had been on Sunday morning. If they want me to return the cart to the cart corral, they better not expect me to push it thru the slush that is frozen solid.

Did you return your buggy to the cart corral and did you wipe it down first? With it being cold and flu season, you might have germs that can spread to others. Remember your baby wipes or Clorox wipes and use them!!!!
Well - I'm having trouble getting this thread to load, so I missed the diversion to wiping down the cart... so, no, I did not do that. However, I had just come from the doctor's office and had washed my hands.

On the other hand, since I brought BOTH carts back to the cart corral, rather than risk inconveniencing some disabled person who could not as easily move a cart to enter a parking space (except, perhaps, by using the vehicle's bumper), who knows what I may have caught? Ah, well - I'm off to take some antibiotics.

Really? That's an interesting setup; I never encountered anything remotely like that except at "Catalog showrooms" like Wilson's and Service Merchandise. However...
EXACTLY like that, only about fifteen years earlier. It was just one store - Stop & Shop; actually, more of their stores may have offered the same set-up, but back in those days my world was very small :)

This passed ridiculous over twenty pages ago.:scared1:

Yes, it did. It's become a tongue in cheek thread to me. As I posted previously, who really cares if carts are in the corral?

I care about my family and friends.
I care about the economy.
I care about my state and country.

To be honest, I'm the most unobservant person. I have never noticed:
carts not in the corrals
people who make salads from the hamburger fixings
someone trying to pass their 6 year old off as a 2 year old
anyone soaking their feet in the fountains at the parks
visitors not wearing a bracelet for the P & P or MVMCP
straight or gay people making out at WDW
Brazilian tour groups
Pop Warner
women in heels
10 year olds in strollers
So as you can imagine, carts are not even a blip to me.

How about some careless shopper leave one slammed up against your driver side door. You still sure it wouldn't be a blip? You're okay with people damaging your property?

With cars running $20K and up, I sure have a problem with it. We work hard for anything nice we have.

I'm embarrassed to say that I probably wouldn't. The other day I did see a couple of small dings but how they got there is anyone's guess and God only knows how long they've been there. My vehicle is cream colored, so maybe the knocks are not as noticeable.
I didn't and won't freak out about dings. My car is a convenience to get me from point A to point B-that is all it is to me.
Now if my children or my husband got a ding, I'd be upset.

Of course, I think that anyone who even uses a shopping cart at a grocery store is being lazy.

When my wife and I go to the grocery store she simply loads everything into my open palms. Of course, it helps that each of my hands is as big as a wheel barrow. For the 40 pound sack of dog food she simply tosses it on top of my head.

Here is a video of my wife and I at our wedding, doing our first dance together:

But why? Wouldn't a Baby Bjorn work better? Less risk of the bag accidentally falling - i.e. when a stray cart accidentally rolls into YOU - and breaking...

You do realize that by resurrecting this thread, you have reserved yourself a special seat in the 5th circle of hell, right?

Of course, I'm now responding, which will bump it a little higher.

Hmmmm.

This is the thread that never ends... yes it goes on and on my friends... some people stopped reading it many pages ago... but we'll keep on reading it and posting just because this is the thread that never ends... yes it goes on and on my friends... some people stopped reading it many pages ago... but we'll keep on reading it and posting because this is the.....

Because they are rude and lazy.

Perhaps because they just came out of the hospital having a chemo treatment like I did?

And its non of any ones business to criticize complete strangers you don't know anything about.

Further more there are always children who are willing to take back the cart and owning the dollar fee I put into the coin slot.

Just wanted to say we just got a Target. :) First in the state!

Their carts are all plastic. I wonder if they ding? It's a parking garage, I wonder about the wind in there?

Hmmmm I'll have to ask Guest Services about these issues. ;)

Entirely enclosed parking lot? I ask only because I drive past a mall with a small, two-level lot; I noticed recently - since this thread started and much of the snow has melted - a number of cart that were apparently left 'loose' in the lot during or just before the plowable snows this winter, that are now heaped up in the remaining mounds... because, apparently, no shopper OR employee returned them to a safe location... poor carts... :( ;)

Not my fault. I'm having trouble getting this thread to load - I keep getting that '503 Server Busy' message. I post whenever I can get to the last page AND there's a new, response-worthy post just begging for my input :teeth:

Come to think of it, I did not see any carts in the lot last night. I noticed they were all neatly pushed in the corral. See...I knew I could change peoples behavior by posting this thread.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I cant believe this thread is still going and going and going.

We disers are sure a 'interesting' bunch.:lmao:

Anyhow, All I EVER want is a cart that the flippen wheels dont lock up.

Yeah, you think that's bad? Somebody keeps locking one of the wheels on the cart I use at work... and engaging the 'child-proof lock' on the rear doors of my car... and pushing that silly little button that prevents anyone from the driver from opening/operating their respective car windows.... :confused3

Okay, that's sort of a legitmate reason to not use the cart corral (although, it does look like some people at least pushed their carts into the entrance of it, based on the wheeltracks). OTOH, at least based on the photograph and the tracks, that doesn't appear to be frozen slush - it appears to be snow soft enough, at least at the beginning, into which carts could be rolled (and in which they'd then stay - even if it ended up being all winter, i.e. if the wheels froze place :teeth: )

Most likely, while the plows can clear the parking lots, none are narrow enough to get into the cart corral.
