Here's a debate for you. What is the difference between scalloped potatoes and Au Gratin? Aren't they both spuds in cheese sauce?

Nope...scalloped is in a white/cream sauce. Au Gratin has the cheese

Can I trade you lots of unauthorized desserts for the dish of scalloped potatoes? LOL

Each person was assigned something to bring when they asked if they could bring something. Only TWO people were told dessert.

EVERYONE showed up with extra desserts. Really not a surprise. Happens ALL the time. I just get annoyed because no way can it all get eaten, then no one wants to take any home because they are worried about their weight.....and we are left with a house full of dessert.

Having read a little of this thread, it sounds to me like the problem wasn't the scalloped potatoes. The problem is your MIL and the fact that you all don't get along.

I hope for your DH's sake you vented here and it doesn't show so much in RL. The whole arguement sounded trivial--like a mountain made out of a molehill.

I wonder if it wouldn't have bothered you near as much if it had been someone who you really liked? Something to think about, maybe.

Of course, I love scalloped potatoes. Anywhere, anytime.
