Why do people have mules?

Mules Rule. I got mine on every day. Thanks for the pirate tip. Gotta try that one. If you are using vmk pal you can open as many vmk pla windows as your computer can handle, but you can only log in one in at a time. If you try to log in two at the same time you will loose your connection. So you must wait until one is logged in and then log in the next one. Remember to keep them moving every once in a while or they disconnect.

One more benifet on having mules is the ability to store your items that you have been collecting. I don't know about anyone else but my player has so much stuff that I can't even do a trade with anyone anymore because it take so long. It got so bad that I couldn't even go to some of the areas in vmk, like the new rides. I started selling stuff back. That was dumb. I just let the mules hold it and then when I need something I just trade it back to the main player.

I think vmk could solve this by putting one picture in you inventory and then just tell you that you have 1000 crates instead of showing you 1000 pictures of crates.

I can only speak for myself, I play 1 Character at a time unless I am on trading between my characters.

Ditto.

And I only use my mules for HOST QUESTS. Just clarifying...

Now, in the long run, mules for Host Quests are actually beneficial. Might I point to Article 1: The In-Game Pirate Quest Hat.

If you all remember this quest, it was a BEAST. It was rather hard, and they asked for nearly superb Fireworks skills to finish the quest. Combine that required score with the fact that everyone is trying to beat the quest, and you have yourself a very hard quest to finish in one weekend. Especially since it is such a popular item. If the people that were not able to beat that Fireworks score did not use mules, there would be no hope of many Pirate Hats going around. We didn't "take advantage of VMK," we helped VMK. We helped to spread these cool items so that there are enough in the community that new players might have a chance of winning one of these hats.

I can not see how you could personally know though who is a secondary character and who is a main.

I honestly cannot know for sure. But when someone finishes a difficult quest with a better time than my test time, I start to wonder, lol. When I see a character with no pins, no signature and blue/green/pink skin wearing a Goofy hat, I get suspicious. Especially when they kick butt on my quest the first time trying it. Don't get me wrong folks, I said I use "mules" too! I just don't like the blatant use of them to exploit VMK.

I also do not believe that anyone can play 10 accts at one time and especially do not believe that you can play pirates against yourself since you have to move every few seconds or get kicked out of the game.

He said he plays flag only. Sends the "winning" ship to flag then moves others not to get booted. You could easily toggle between the four different windows if your computer was fast enough. As far as ten accounts at the same time, that does seem to be a stretch ;). But it's what he said, so I take it at face value.

Like Aengus my DS plays and we often play together on separate computers so if VMK limited us to one player online together at a time then I think we would just stop playing all together for the principle of it.

Ah, yes, I'm such a dumbo, lol. I didn't think of that. I forget some ppl own more than one computer, sorry. Not a good solution.

And I only use my mules for HOST QUESTS. Just clarifying...

But isn't that the exact reason host room queues get so incredibly long? And as far as "helping" distribute these cool rare items, I'm not sure I agree. I think of all the people with only 1 account who never make it in because a "mule" took their place. And it seems like the people who have multiple account would get more prizes, especially with the teleporter host rooms. Once you know the porter...all your mules do to. I don't see how this is fair or helping the other players. It only puts more of the "wealth" into fewer players hands. Come on. This doesn't sound right..

I never do a players quest more than once. I do not use my mules for that. I play them the same as I would if littlebelle was in the game. I do the credit runs and then play a few games of ghosts. And if it is time for staff game I get in line. I can only play one at a time since my computer will crash. What I do enjoy is doing the car quests now I am working on space for everyone. I like the challenge.

I believe the person was referring to the Q button quests, which does not require going into the host room queues.

Oops, so sorry. I think you're right. I guess this topic really riles me up, and I need to relax, lol. I'll be sure to read more carefully before I post next time. Sorry again and thx for pointing this out! :)

Well, I use my mules to trade my flips to and scare people that Patchy actually traded her beloved flips...

But also, I play them when I am bored... for some reason, I like starting over things... it always fun to replay the quests...

There is also another reason, but I know I will get yelled at for saying it....

There are quite a few of us here that have done hosts quests multiple times and gotten prizes multiple times that are known to just give some of these things away to those that couldn't get them. Of course, I don't just give all of them away as I do use a couple extras for trades. I have to as I have no other way of getting park quest items or beta.
Now. Isn't it also unfair that those that live near the parks can get so much of the coveted parks quest items? Isn't that putting that wealth into the hands of the few?

For those that choose not to give anything away and only trade them for lots of items, yes, it's not fair. But, that's their perogative. Besides, who ever promised that life would be totally fair? It's also putting more of those items into the game providing more people with opportunities to get those items.

A mule is only as good as the person who created it.

As for me using mules for hosts quests, I do it. But my computer can barely handle two characters up at one time. There is no hope of seriously doing any games while two are up. So, they each get logged in after the other is logged out.

anyone who has had a quest and gotten ripped off by a bunch of mules can understandably get riled up!!!

I try not to use mine for evil

TRY ;)

But I never use it against another player for sure!

I know I traded all my Pirate Hats away, but I do not recall what I traded them for. If it was something as meaningless that I could not remember it, it was probably a good deal for the other player. That player can then trade the Pirate Hat for something else, so on and so forth.

Virtual Capitalism.

Those ultra rare in-park items are that rare for a reason: Disney wants us to yearn for those items so badly we go to the parks or buy movies and products just to get them! It's a great marketing tool :). But, fair to me doesn't necassarily mean everyone gets the same items/rooms as everyone else. Just the same opportunity. The ppl who live near the parks have to pay to get in too. What's unfair to me is when players exploit the game using their mules to stack the odds of winning host/guest prizes in their favor. Within the context of the game, that's not fair. If you don't want to go to the parks or purchase things specifically for VMK, you can always purchase retired and current card sets on Ebay or search the forums for a helpful DIS member who visits the parks regularly. We can all get what we want somehow, it's just the price we're willing to pay for it. Disney wants us to go to the parks and spend our money, lol. Even more than we do already ;)

Not if the people who live near the parks have Premium AP's. Usually, the In Park Quests are coveted more than the In Game Quests, so the Premium-AP-ers make out with railroad robbery every couple months.

Yes, so I have the choice of going out and buy $60 worth of movies to get a Theater Pack to get cooler stuff that someone didn't have to pay for (they got to go to DLR/WDW, AND it is cheaper since they've basically paid for the hefty price for every "free" visit they go.

I bought $90 worth of pins when I was in DLR last month, and I traded all of the virtual items for a Jack Sparrow Costume.

People that don't have money/can't get to the parks, don't have a chance. I was lucky because I just came out of my 18th Birthday (18th Birthday translates roughly to $$$ in the Dollarian language).

Mules on Host Q Quests give folks that chance. ANYONE can do it and it increases the amount of items into the populace. I fail to see what is wrong with this.

But there IS something wrong with mules and quests, and it happened to you. I'm truly sorry that you got ripped off for trying to give people a fun experience, and I understand your frustration with respect to mules. I know I'd feel the same way...

But over-generalizing with regards to how people use Mules isn't wise. Trust me: I've done my fair share of over-generalizing over the past couple days, and I hurt a couple people's feelings because of it.

I am not the person you are addressing this too but NO, you do not have to get in line to do a Host Quest.

With a teleporter game again this is me I get in line around 300-500 most times with one character DS hardly ever does them and I do not have the patience to watch 2 computers. By the time I finally get into the host room then I have pretty much had it and the game is usually almost done with.

That is why for the whole month of March I only won 3 giraffe pins total, by the way I have 25 characters...so you see not all of us who have "mules" take advantage of the game. I will just like most people run all my mules through a host Quest, not every quest though, the slipper quest the other day I only did twice once for me and once for my DS.

Another thing you need to know if you do not already I do not trade(or very very rarely) and most of the extra things I get from doing quests I give away.

Like the pirate hats, some very happy players who did not do that quest are proud owners of the hats and they did not have to trade the farm away to get them.

I also buy extras of costume and limited items with my mules those too get gifted.

If mules were axed then sorry my friend there would a lot less of my gifting happening. It would not disappear all together but it would be seriously cut back.

I do not mean the Prize Fairy and Prize Pixies Gifting those gifts have been donated to the DIS VMK members by other members including myself and LoriR and will always be there as long as members gift them to us to be gifted out.

So you see not all mules are sinister beings just pirating and plundering VMK for what it is worth and even then I think most players have the right to play VMK however they like as long as it is within VMK guidelines and does not take advantage of other players.

I see what the problem is now.. My original statement was too strong. I am not againgst multiple accounts! Like I said, I use mules too! I wouldn't use them if I thought they were evil, lol. It's just been my experience as a quest host, that has tainted my view. And also hearing from that guy who uses 10 accounts at a time really freaked me out and made me realize a few things. I think it's awesome to gift something really rare to someone who really appreciates it! And I'm not talking about the host Q, just the host ROOMS. Quest away and gift away ppl! It seems like everyone here is getting a little defensive. I don't doubt any of you! I've met so many wonderful and kind ppl on VMK and especially DIS (not that there aren't a few scammers here too, tsk tsk). I'm talking about the bad apples. The scammers and exploiters. And in my experience, unfortunatley, they use alot of mules. That's were my resentment comes from. Thanks all for your understanding too. It was a horrible experience opening my quest the first time. I had spent alot of time, credits and energy to make the best quest I could with awesome prizes. Only to be robbed by mules. It's an on going thing. I'm much more tolerant of mules playing the quest now and will actually encourage ppl to try again (if they didn't do well) with a second accout if they have one. As long as your up front about it and not trying to play me for a fool I don't mind mules :)

That statement was much better said, not defensive just stating our side since you had attacked people who use mules.

I understand your anger towards people who took advantage of you...but as you see that is not everyone only a few very sad players.:sad2:

Do you have to give a prize when preparing a quest? Is that the rule or does it just get people in? I have done quests just for the fun of it. looking at the time to beat, I just have to laugh when I see someone has done in 10 minutes what takes me 40. I don't really expect a prize and would be shocked if I ever won anything.

I have a few mules. I created them primarily for host quests (in the Q button...I've yet to ever go into a host room with one of my mules). But even though the purpose was for host quests, I actually do play all three on a regular basis. I do not accept any friend requests on them, the only friend I have on their lists is my main player (WDWspirit). For that reason, I choose not to share the names of my mules simply because once in awhile it's nice to just be able to play without people on my friends list sending me messages to come to their rooms or having people on my friends list come to wherever I am with the purpose of just hanging out and chatting. Not that something like that is a bad thing, but sometimes I just want to play the games and such without thinking about anything else. Then, whatever credits I earned during that time, I buy whatever I need to buy and trade them to my main character.

That said, I can understand for those who make their own quests, how frustrating it can be for mules to start popping up in your quests. I had a quest during green month and one player and her mule came in every time I had it open. I KNEW they were one and the same...for one, they came in right after each other (when one was finished, the other would come in a minute later) and their times were almost exactly the same, and two, the usernames were nearly identical (I know there are names in the game that are very similar, but in order to protect identities, I'll just say that if you saw their names, you would instantly peg them as the same person). I actually confronted the person about it and she quickly left the room. The next day she said "oh I know who you're talking, that person did a friend request with me today!" Interesting, I never told her what the other person's name was. So she completed the quest for that day...wouldn't you know it, a minute after she was done, her mule popped on. I booted him from the room. Interestingly enough, neither came back from that day forward. Honestly, I don't mind if people return every time my quest is open. That's what it's there for. I just don't like it when people are clearly trying to take advantage of me and taking away a spot for the day from someone else who is playing. It's one thing with host quests, because those prizes are unlimited supply until the time is up. That's not the case with player made quests. Now I realize that catching mules isn't as easy as this situation, but I hope I at least got the message across to her that perhaps she should do player made quests in a more fair way.
And with that said, I also wanted to point out that just because a player comes in, doesn't say anything, and completes the quest in record time doesn't mean they're a mule who had sent other characters before him to test it out. I've been able to complete player quests in record time without saying so much as "hi" to anyone and it was the ONLY time I played it.

I don't think you HAVE to give out prizes, but I may be completely wrong in that because I've never seen (or made) a quest that didn't have at least one prize. Personally, I wouldn't be too interested in completely all kinds of tasks without anything at the end.
