Why do Mousekeeping make towel animals.

why do mousekeeping make towel animals and make scenes from kids toys?

  • just to get more/extra tips from guests. It's a financial scam

  • They like to add to the visit to WDW.They do it voluntarily, it's part of the magic

  • They are expected to by the guests, mousekeepers feel it's an obligation.

  • They are told/expected to by management. It's part of their job.

We've never gotten any towel animals and we ALWAYS tip. :sad2: Our first trip when we stayed at ASMu we got little "toothbrush" holders a couple times, that was fun....but that's all we ever got. Sometimes they don't even take our tip, which is labeled and in plain site. :confused3 I'm hoping for better "magic" this time. We'll be there for 8 nights, surely we get SOMETHING! I've never even had someone say, "Have a magical day!". Of course DH(who could care less if we never went to WDW again) has, and he lets me know it.

I have to say, its for the magic. Some housekeepers, will take the time, and others won't. If it was to get extra tips, they would ALL prob. do it.

We have always tipped $5.00/day, a few times $6.00 if we had extra trash. We never got any towel creations, at CSR, but they did always arrange the stuffed animals in cute ways. We had a few at CBR, but nothing too elaborate.

I've always envied the big window displays that I pass. I've never gotten one of those.

I think they do it to add to the guest experience, I could see rel enjoyment when my 6 yr os DD thanked our mouse keeper

I just got back from my RCCI cruise and LOVED the towel animals. It was really cool to get a monkey hanging from our ceiling and we never did figure out how that was done!

On the day I went SCUBA diving with the sting rays, I came back to the room to find a sting ray towel animal. It was really cool to know that our cabin steward was aware of our activities and remember what we had planned for each day in port.

Out of a group of 12, each day we would compare our animals. One of the guys found out how to make the bunny towel animals and, surprise, his bunny multiplied. The cabin steward thought it was great and had a good laugh over our antics of multipling the towel bunnies.

we are not traveling with kids either, but I've heard about the towel animals and they sound so cute! I'm hoping we get some, but is it really no kids / no animals? :worried:

Probably a true statement. We have stayed at WDW so many times-all types of resorts from budget to deluxe to villas to conceirge and we have never once received a towel animal. Someday we will, but I am not counting on it. We don't have kids :confused3 .

the kid of course! :hyper: we could walk one down the hall, and just as we pass by one of the mousekeepers, we could say "don't worry honey, I am sure the mousekeepers of room #1234 will make you a WONDERFUL towel animal! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: do you think that is too extreme?

I have never had towel animals left by mousekeeping. One day they left my DGDs stuff animals (all two of them) next to each other (in a cute way) on the pillow - but that's it. And on our last trip, our mousekeeper was a middle aged man who spoke no English who had NO clue about anything! He should never have been given that particular job.

Thanks! Just because we're "grown-ups" doesn't mean we have to grow up!!!

I have yet to see one in my two trips with the family. Guess we just haven't had the right mousekeeper.

Mousekeepers do it because they love seeing the joy in peoples' eyes when they see towel animals. We had a Mousekeeper who made animals and when I thanked her, that was her explanation in a nutshell.

And she left us more animals.

They also do it because they feel sorry for us Disney Fanatics having to pay so much to feed our obsession. LOL!!! The're amazed that we come back time and time again with our wallets and purses open, ready to give our hard earned money away to a mouse! :rotfl:

As a hotel clerk for the last 3 years, I can tell you that they are told to do it by the management.

Thats why hotels do everything they do.

They are in it for the money and if something small like these towel animals will do it then they will do it.

While I agree it adds to the magic, i used to manage hotels and if the owners said jump you made sure you jumped. If the towels had to be 4 inches apart we had to measure and that annoying little triangle on the toilet paper thing, I know you know what Im talking about! LOL I havent seen these so called animals but cant wait, and no matter why they do them i enjoy knowing that the magic is in the air, weather it be forced or not! LOL

We didn't get any towel animals, but every day I would have my children write thank you notes and put the tip in an envelope, decorate the envelope, and they found a crack in the bedpost to stick the envelope in on their bed. The last day we were there, not only did they put ALL the stuffed animals on the girls' bed and the sorcerer's hat, :wizard: they put 4 pillows on their bed and left me and DH with a sparce 2. I thought that was very funny. We did get quite a bit of chocolate on each bed too but the girls ate them all before I got a chance to look at them more closely. :mickeybar

I thought they did this in response to my daughters' efforts at envelope decorating.
