Ive been going back and forth with this and would like a little feedback

we are on the Med cruise in Sept getting in the day before--so I asked on here for hotels since the 3 that disney uses were all booked

a couple on here recommend Renaissance Barcelona when I looked that up it came up no rooms so
the page then listed alot of other hotels so one was Renaissance Barcelona Fira I thought they were the same hotel but unfortunalty they arent

I booked there anyways since the price was alot cheaper also on tripadvisor all the reviews were excellent and I contacted the hotel about a car service and they recommend one that also has excellent ratings

but now I checked the first hotel again just for fun and now of course theres rooms but theyre 565 euros compared to 200 euros for the other hotel with this one though the car service would be more then disney transfers--but since this is a celebration trip Im just thinking of having the service also take us to the port

and then jsut take disney transfers back to the airport

I guess what Im asking is what would you do

I like the idea that people on here have stayed at the first hotel I mentioned however the price is terribly high---or stay at the other one use the car service twice ( has anyone know anything about this Fira hotel)

We stayed at the Renaissance when we were in Barcelona last year and found it to be a very nice hotel and in a good location.

We just took cabs everywhere we went if it wasnt walking distance and the hotel is very accommodating in arranging cab or car service pick up.

There is also a W hotel not far from the Port that is really nice. Right on the water.

Sorry, but we are not familiar with the other Renaissance Barcelona Fira.

Good luck

I stayed at the Hilton diagonal mar before my DCL cruise. I booked through disney and it was high but I did it for convenience.

We are going to Barcelona in September for a land vacation and are staying at Hotel U232 after looking at tons of hotels. No clue if it would work for where you want to be though

Its a beautiful city............stay there as long as you can.

We always stay at the Casa Camper. If you're only there for one day, this will put you close walking distance to lots of sites (it's on a quiet street a block or so off Las Ramblas). Has a great staff and complimentary food all 24/7. About a 35E cab ride from the airport and about 30E to the cruise port. Check it out.

we picked a place off travelocity. hey, its not for that many days and it will be fine! it's going to be great! and i have not booked transfers at all - i think its going to be easy enough to get a cab or whatnot. when is your cruise?

i think it looks great! i would stay at whatever is less expensive myself. i hope you get a room with those weird windows! i think it looks good. you are closer to that monjuic than "city center" but i think it is fine. just orient your sight seeing from there out!

If anyone is considering taking public transit from the airport: We found that the Aerobus bus from the Barcelona airport was the easiest we've ever taken. There is a video on the airport website that shows you the route to take through the airport to get to the bus - I wish every airport offered this information. The bus stops at Placa de Catalunya, at the top of Las Ramblas. BTW, the department store El Corte Ingles (https://www.elcorteingles.es/centroscomerciales/en/eci/centros/centro-comercial-placa-de-catalunya) has a large grocery in the basement where you can stock up on spanish wines and cookies to take home.

We stayed 2 nights at Hotel Lleo, just up from Las Ramblas and Placa Catalunya. We booked via Expedia and got a great rate compared to all the other hotels I had heard mentioned in my research. The rooms had a clean and modern style. A lot of sights were just a quick walk from our hotel and easy access to HOHO Bus and Metro lines.

We stayed at the hotel Oriente Atirum, right on Las Ramblas and absolutely loved it. After some debate, we chose to have a room overlooking Las Ramblas. There is more street noise, but it was really fun to be able to people watch out our window when jet lag had me wide awake at 2:00am.

The location couldn't have been better. I prearranged our transfer from the airport to the hotel because I know I'm useless after an overnight flight. We then stayed at the hotel for four nights, and loved exploring the area on foot - there is sooo much to see within walking distance. It's also less than a block from the metro, for excursions farther afield. We took a public bus to the port, and that was surprisingly easy, too.

Love El Jardi, a Rick Steve's recommendation. On a lovely plaza, quiet, one block off Las Ramblas, very close to La Boqueria, metro station and tons and tons of restaurants serving amazing paella and tapas. It has been a few years but it was very reasonable. I love that city.

Easy to arrange transportation to the port and airport.

I have stayed at a few places in Barcelona. The first was at the Continental Hotel which is on La Rambla street. The location was great and close to various public transportation and tourist attractions. I also stayed at Praktik Garden Hotel which is away from the main touristy spots but close to the subway and only 5 block to Placa de Catalunya where the Aerobus from/to the airport drops you off. Taking the Aerobus was fast, easy and the most cost efficient way to get from/to the airport. I would also suggest that you check Disney Cruise Meets for possible groups created for your cruise. On one of my previous cruises the cruise group made arrangements with discounts for transportation to the port and the hotel.

This hotel was my on my short list....I loved the look of it. Glad you liked it and I will keep it mind for next time.
