Why do I feel crazy for spending 2K on 2 nights?

I don't think I could do it for $2000 but we are adding 2 days at WDW for $700. We only planned on doing Sea World/Discovery Cove and Aquatica but since we live in Az and this is probably our last trip to Orlando we are splurging and doing 2 park days. We already are going to be there and we already have our hotel so our Disney splurge is just 2 day tickets for 4. Still a lot of money and I have a hard time knowing we are spending that much money on just 2 days. We have the money and it would not be a hardship so I need to let go a little too.

I think the suggestion of a mod or value is a good one. I usually stay deluxe but if its an unplanned unbudgeted trip I've stayed at POFQ or POR. Another option if mods aren't your thing is to look into the Swan or Dolphin. While I prefer Disney properties these get you on property at less cost than a Disney deluxe.

It isn't for us to decide. Only you can decide if that amount of money for two days is worth it to you.

Yikes! That's an insane amount of money to pay for two days in my opinion. There's no way I would spend that amount of money for that length of time. The title of your thread, "Why do I feel crazy for spending 2K for 2 days?" leads me to believe you have reservations. Maybe you could change resorts to a mod or AoA to help with cost. At the end of the day, I don't know your financial situation and what it's worth to you. If you're comfortable with the decision, go and have fun!

If we don't go to Disney this fall, we will go to Sanibel Island (my 2nd favorite place in the world). I have run the numbers of trying to slip in 1 day at WDW while we are so close, but like you, it almost feels crazy to spend so much on so little time.

Spending that much on a deluxe for so little time actually spent in the room seems crazy to me, but if you have the money to do it, then go for it.

I think what's difficult about doing a quick Disney trip are the tickets. The hotel is what it is - you could do connecting rooms at a value to save some money there, and it would make sense since your transportation options would be better for such a quick visit. But the money for the tickets is where I would try to save...maybe not in the short term, but long term. If you have plans to go back in the next year, consider APs, and then look for an AP discount on a room - you may even be able to stay on the monorail that way.

Or look to see if the non-expiration options might be worth it. There is talk of them phasing it out, but I don't know exactly where that stands now.

And not sure where you are planning to eat, but for two days you could to QS and save as well.

That said, I've done some crazy vacations like that, so I am definitely not one to judge! Good luck with your choice - let us know what you decide!

Yikes! I'm about to go for 2nights/3days for the grand price of $375 and that's including flights! My AP will take care of the tickets, and I'm thinking another $150ish max for food/cocktails/souvenirs. Under $600 total for a 3 day trip is much more around my budget!

I would never spend that for 2 nights whatsoever.

Like others have said, only you can decide if this is worth it to you, but as for getting encouragement for your trip from me, I can't give that.

Yes, but is that just for you? The OP has four children so for a family of 6x$600, she's coming out ahead at only $2,000

I have three kids (all Disney adults). If I were to go on my own or just with my DW, we could travel a ton more - but when you start multiplying everything by 5 it gets quite expensive!

As for the OP...we've spent frivolously on things before. If you can afford it without going into debt, I don't see why it's such an awful idea.

We're not spending quite that much, but I talked my DH into adding 3 nights at POR for our family of 5 disney adults to the end of our beach vacation. With room, tickets and food(not Dp) it's around $1700, plus I had $300 in rewards from visa..so--I talked myself into it....our kids grow up so fast! If you can afford it, go for it and cherish the family time

I think I just need other Disney peeps to say they get it We made 2 trips to Disney last year, a week in Dec 2012 and then 5 nights in August for DDs 7th birthday. They were both awesome fun trips.

This year we have other vacations planned but my 5 & 7 yr old ask everyday if we can go back to WDW so we a surprising them by adding a quick 2 day trip on to our week in Captiva. We are a family of 6 so with 2 nights at AKL and tickets it comes out at about $2k. I don't want to change my trip but I just feel a little bit crazy for spending more on on 2 days than our weeks rental in Captiva. It's triple that for a week at Disney for our family but some how that seems more sensible

We are also a big family. Have you thought about 2 rooms at the Swan/Dolphin? What about renting someones DVC points? We have done both before we were DVC members.

I definitely would not spend that much for just two nights. For just two nights, I would go with a value, it would be a good bit cheaper.

Look into renting DVC points. You can get a great deal or nearly half of what pay normally.

I get that things cost wayyyy more with a bigger family (I have six kids...all but two are grown).

It's not like you have never been to WDW before or it's been five years and these two days are your only chance ever to go.

My advice? Take the 2K and put it aside. After you get back from the other trip, unpack, unwind, shop for groceries and do laundry...Take a deep breath and enjoy planning your next WDW vacation! Look out into the future a few months or even a year and put that $2000 toward a trip...maybe see how far you can stretch it by renting points or using a great code. I would much rather be able to stay for a week instead of only two days!

Well - I'm doing something similar. 2 nights in April. 3 people @ almost $800. So, if I times that by 2 that would be about $1600 for your group. Not as much but still a lot. The problem for me isn't the resort. (I'm at POP with the spring promo; with tax the room is only like $100 a night). The problem is the tickets. I'd consider AP's, but not sure if I'll get back within the year or not.

I say go for it OP and have a blast doing it. There will always be someone who will go against the grain or down the drain ( different direction) when it comes to money and trips. I think you should do what you and your family are comfortable. If you need that money to live off later, I would not splurge but if you are not hurting and in need of that $$$$$ do it. We are going for 10 days in about a week and we are dropping 5 figures for that time period What ever you decide, do what you want and don't regret it later

It depends on your situation. If you are spending some of your kids' future college tuition for it, then yes, it's crazy.
