My DD's are setting up an obstacle course that consists of books, shoes and shoe boxes. The object is to roll a soccer ball around and through without knocking anything over. The other day they all got new sandals from Payless. They've since used the shoe boxes to make dollhouses for their homemade paper dolls. So, I ask myself why do I bother to buy them toys! I could have saved myself quite a bit of money this past Christmas and just given them old boxes, markers and paper!:goodvibes

Your kids sound imaginative, creative, resourceful and smart!

Our 19-month old grandson has a ton of toys that we've bought for him to have at our house. He has a playhouse, a trike, a cozy coupe, trucks, cars, blocks, puzzles, books, and so on and so on.

His favorite thing to play with? The potatoes in my kitchen pantry.

Thank you!:goodvibes I love the games they come up. When my oldest was in ballet, my younger 2 DD's played in the grassy area by the parking lot with sticks and branches for an hour. It was too funny watching them. They were re-inacting Alice in Wonderland and kept pretending to fall down an imaginary hole. I hope their imaginations stay like that for a long, long time.

Potatoes?:lmao: Holy cow, that's hilarious! So true though isn't it? All of mine were fascinated by my cabinet with the pots and pans at that age. They would play and play and I have the cutest pics from it!:goodvibes

cute!

my youngest daughter and i were just talking about this kind of thing today.
I was telling her that one of her and her sisters favorite things to do was dig in the back yard with a spoon.

 Sounds like you have bright kids. Our kids were like that too. One Christmas we gave DSthen-about 8 a box of batteries, wires, little flashlight bulbs and little motors. he made circuits for WEEKS. Another year we gave him a Xerox box full of 2x4 cuts, nails and a hammer.:scared1: He didn't hurt anyone, including himself, but he got hours and hours of fun out of that building dwellings and "ladders" for his Batman action figures.

DD was one for the shoeboxes. When she was 8 she told me she didn't want ANY toys for Christmas. Only craft supplies. Give her some glue, popsicle sticks, material scraps and chennielle stems and she'd build you a castle and make all the little people in the castle.

It's so great to hear about kids who can THINK and CREATE. The world needs more people like your children.

OMG! How could I forget that! DS used to dig holes in our back yard constantly. He was looking for "jewels". Here in N Georgia you can find rose quartz, smoky quartz, and amethyst just about anywhere, including my backyard. I guess he dug in the backyard for about 5 years and all it cost me was some Tide(we have red clay here in Georgia). I still have low places where he "dug for diamonds."

My dh is always guilty of buying our ds7 crud he doesn't need toy wise. lol This year he got some nice presents from relatives and us for Christmas , and what was his favorite item? The dollar store whoopie cushion we got for his stocking. :rotfl:

Ohhh, my dmil got him a DSlite too, but we found out he doesn't use it for its intended purpose. He records his own videos and 'movies' with it. :goodvibes

LOL darned if I know. DD is running around having a ball with the $1.00 microphone from Target right now. She loves my stuff and boxes, etc... omg, the toilet paper rolls she's played with, it's ridiculous. I swear, no more toys for her! lol
