Hi guys! Last night was bath night ... you would have thought that we were dragging our dogs to their death!

They seem to "know" when it is their bathtime vs. our bathtime. They always run under the bed ... So, then we started shutting all the doors in the house so they have nowhere to hide.

As soon as the water is through running, they start to cower and one even shakes all over. The other one tends to find a corner and sulk down as low as she can go, you know so we can't see her when it is her turn!

Then, don't even start about what they do when they are actually in the bath!

After the bath, they put on great entertainment running around the house like a jack russell on crack! :teeth:

But, they smell so good and they look much better and their coats are soooooooo soft after a bath!

Does your dog hate bathtime?

Our dog also hates the bath. He is a 40 lbs. lab/spaniel mix, so you'd think he'd like the water! We have to manhandle him into the tub and he'll jump out in a second if you don't have a hand on him at all times. He shakes like we're on the way to the Humane Society the whole time! In the summer, we use the hose outside. We used to have a Golden Retriever who loved baths. Who knows what's going through those canine minds!

My Golden loves baths:D

My son is a whole other story:p

My Golden is the opposite, he literally climbs in the tub and barks. DH and I were cracking up one day, he climbed in the tub and started barking, DH didn't know what the heck was going on. I said 'he wants a bath'. I turned on the water and he was happy.

He has also jumped into the shower while the kids were in there. My son starts yelling for me, I go in there and the dog is laying on the bottom of the shower with the water running over him. Strange dog.

Our 8 year old Miniature Schnauzer hates baths. If we even mention the word bath in at all he runs. It's so strange because nothing bad has ever happened to him while getting a bath.
Buddy (our dog) has such a big mouth, too. He barks at people walking by, at leaves, and thinks he's the biggest dog in the world.. but bathtime is so scary.

They only PRETEND to dislike the bath. It's all part of a doggie-plot to make your life difficult.

My puppy loves to get dirty, but he hates to take a bath. But right after he gets a bath, he gets incredibly hyper:hyper:. I love the way his coat is soft when he's clean.:)

Well......HELLO! If you would bathe them with muddy water and scrub them with manure you wouldn't have these problems! Sheesh......who wants clean water and soap????::yes::

usually DH gives the dog a bath...but last night, i had to do it. he's always so quick with her too...it took me almost 20 minutes to bathe a PUPPY!

If you start grooming early in their lives, they'll have no problem with baths . I grind nails every 3 days and my dogs are fine with it because they're use to it.

Well it seems like golden retrievers like baths. I have a golden and she loves taking baths, especially when it's in her pool outside. She get's excited and jumps into her pool and you can tell she enjoys it. It's only a problem though when we want to give her a bath in the tub (which is very rare since my mom hates cleaning it when she's done). She's old and has problems getting into it, but once she's in she's happy!

We have a cocker spaniel and a silky terrrier. The cocker loves baths- he will jump in the tub and bark for you to come turn on the water. The silky, well, he sulks and pouts and hides, and then goes absolutely crazy after the bath, trying to "dry" himself off by rubbing against all my furniture! goofy dog, I just blow-dried him!

My dog will jump into anything wet, except the tub. My dog occassionally forgets she's not alpha in this house and that really comes up in the tub. She makes it hard on anyone giving her a bath. She thinks it's hilarious.
When you're done, she'll come right next to you and shake

She loves the towel and to be rubbed. She really loves the blow dryer, but first she has to go outside to run like crazy around the yard a few times.

My doggie loves baths! I have to lock him up while I'm giving my son a bath, or Max tries to jump in.

Now the vet's office is another story altogether. I was afraid he was going to have heart attack during his one-year check-up.

Duncan will jump in any puddle, swim in any pool or lake, but come bath time.. he balks. So I bribe him with treats. lol

My last cocker, Boyse, would go limp. Do you know how hard it is to carry a 45 pound LIMP dog??

ok so heres a question I was going to post anyway...
how often do you bathe your dog and how the heck do you do it in the winter without your entire home smelling like wet dog????

HELP!

binny... whose Golden HATES the bath but deperately needs one!

We have a groomer who comes to the house and baths/grooms of our American Eskimo in his van. Normally, our dog greets people at the door, barking and looking for attention. One look at the groomer and he cowers, running in the opposite direction.

We give baths pretty regularly, say about once every week or week and a half, more often if they jump in mud, it rains (the they get dirty on their walk), etc. We just take them in the shower with us, so it is fairly easy to do, thanks goodness they are pretty little!
