Why do CM's ask where we are staying when making ADR's over the phone?

I am wondering why do Cast Members ask where we are staying when making ADR's over the phone? I personally don't see the point becauseif if it has to do with the DDP, the Cast Members ask us that when we arrive at the restaurants they ask if we are on the DDP and then we tell them yes or no.

I think it might be so you can go up to the front desk and ask them to confirm your reservations, but I'm not sure.

I think it is to make sure that you are a resort guest. If memory serves me correctly, resort guests get more advance time to make ADRs then off site guests. I could be wrong but it makes sense to me.

I could be wrong though. Hope you got the restaurants you wanted.

Well, when I have called for dining reservations lately. The first question is, "which resort are you staying at?" and the second is "are you on the dining plan?"

The first question lets them know if they should ask you the second question.

If you answer "no" to the second question, it gives them the opportunity to tell you what the dining plan is and ask if you'd like to be on it.

Also, since I am on the dining plan, as I make each reservation, they make note that it uses 1 or 2 dining credits (in case I didn't realize).

I also wonder if they don't try keep track somehow of their own info, what percentage of people that make ADRs stay on property versus off?

My Dad thought the same thing, although I did not think so because I thought ADR's are 1st come 1st serve for anyone and it did not matter if you were staying onsite or offsite.

The last time my family and phoned ahead for ADR's was in December 2004 when we made two ADR's for Boma. When we were checking into the Atrium Club at the Contemporary we were automatically given a print out confirmation of those ADR's. However I am not sure if Cast Members do that for guests not staying on Club Level floors? Although I think I heard they could go to the Concierge desks in the Resorts lobby and ask for a print out of their ADR's.

Not quite. Onsite guests can take advantage of 180+10. That is, 180 days out from the first day of their vacation, they can make their ADR's for up to the first 10 days of their trip.

we stayed at French Quarter in April and the front desk had our computer print out of our reservations and asked if they could be assistance in making any more.......we did not do Dining plan .....we do DDE ......we made our reservations in March....I need to go back now you all realize that .....dont ya? HAHAHA

I imagine they also ask about your resort because if something unexpected happens at the restaurant that might impact your reservation (power problems, water main break, no AC, etc) they can try to contact you through your resort since many people give their home phone number not a cell number. This still might not be successful if you don't return to your hotel but it gives them another way to try to reach you.
