Heres the post promised in my "AND THERE OFF".......this may be long, but please accept my appolgies now!...
1st off- I found the dis on a whim. A quick google search of Disney Forums, and up it popped. I wasn't planning a disney vacation per say at that time, just gathering info before I sprung the trip on DH....but once I found it, what choice did I have? Well, you know...no choice but to head to Orlando SOON! The sooner the better.
I was able to use the search feature in those early days, as I surf at off-hours..(read that 2-3am!)...I read and read and read, and found more than enough information!...so much so that It became overwhelming at times.
Having only been to WDW back in 1983 at the ripe old' age of 7, A LOT had changed...what was this Animal Kingdom I read about? these resorts...good golly, how to decide. What helped me decide was the pictures, posts and info!
I started with off-site, remember those posts? Yup- you do!....ended up with a AAA rate at ASMovies...then low and behold, posts started appearing with the loved BBY code...could I get it? SURE I COULD, and I did! Yes- I did! Saved me $40 per night over rack rate. WHOOHOO...
Onto the park hoppers- who would have thought I could pay less than gate price..geez- the folks at the dis!...saved me about $15 per person I'd say (never really figured out the savings to be honest)....
Disney Dollars, NEVER heard of them until I dis'd! What a great "black mail" tool for my DDs!!...yes, they work wonders, and they've each got over $100 DD's to spend on the junk I wont buy!..whoohoo
vouchers- never did sign up for any of the programs, but I was quick as a rabbit one night when someone posted they had them left over. Got me two VKLs, and two Q&C's, RAINFOREST AND BEACHES AND CREAM HERE I COME! You can guess how much I'll save at those 2 places.
Oh the list goes on and on, let me tell you that! Entertainment book- never heard of it!....ordered one, and was able to save 50% yes- you read that right 50% on rack rate at our hotel on St. Augustine Beach following our WDW vaca!..
So the story goes- that DH always said in the beginning "what exactly are you doing on that Dis" and I always said, well, saving money dear LOL....comparing my original budget BEFORE dis, to my budget now, well- we're looking at abotu a 40% overall savings....ALL because of the dis!
I want to thank you now, before I head to bed, and dreams of pixie dust start flying through my head. I appreciate you all, and your information is over the top. Never in my dreams did I imagine I'd be heading to a WDW vacation, and staying ON SITE!...It's all because of you.
I've got to get to bed, the alarm is going to go off in about 5 hours (yes I napped this afternoon...)
And then we're off to WDW at 330 tomorrow morning...if you see a Hunter Green Envoy with VT plates heading down 95 thats US! We've got our trusted Mickey Mouse antenae topper to lead us in the right direction....As my DD's keep telling people...
