nless_dream, we made it very clear that it was up to our guests to get themselves to Orlando and back, and not our responsibility. If they had to travel from out of town to see us married at home, we would not have paid for that either. DF and I went a couple of rounds over this regarding one person. Since that person was very important to DF and truly could not afford the cost of attending, I said that we would pay for their airfare and lodging, but not a vacation (ie come Wed leave Thursday or Friday for our Thursday wedding). No tickets, etc. This person will now not be coming due to other circumstances, but they are the ONLY guest we were going to foot anything for and only due to extrodinary circumstances. We can't afford for everyone to travel on our dime, and no one has made a single comment that we should do so. It may sound a little harsh, but I felt that since we can't pay for everybody, we won't pay for anybody (minus the above mentioned exception) or it would be unfair, especially with the intimate wedding where we are VERY close to ALL of our guests.
Good luck!
