Why did you buy a certain number of points?

Great thread by the way. We now own 350 SSR points. We will be adding on 500 VB points within the next 10 months. You guys plan so much better than we do. I looked at the total cost and paid cash for what I wanted to comfortably spend. It also gave us a chance to get a feel for the program and the resorts. We recently fell in love with VB after a stay in a Beach Cottage. Our add on will give us the 11 month window we need there. I also will add more points at the next DVC offering. I don't care where it is either. I'd love to see the Poly but I know that won't happen. I'll probably co-own those with my son so he'll have use of them for years to come. Will they let me put a 4 or 5 year old on a contract? :confused3 Oh well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

We originally purchased 230 OKW points, planning on doing a 1 or 2 bedroom for a week each year. Before that first year was up, we determined we needed more to really be happy, so we added on another 150, also at OKW. We preferred OKW over BWV (only two for sale then), and wanted all of our points available at the same time and place.

We currently own 185 points at SSR.

Why 185?
We could afford to pay for this amount in cash and not have to finance (I was lucky enough to have received a large bonus check in 2003 that covered this).

I would like to buy another 100 points or so - right now we pay 1/2 of our vacations with cash and 1/2 with DVC. We are probably going to cut on the vacations over the next couple of years to buy more points.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE staying on DVC. :cloud9:

We initially bought 185 BWV points, just rounded off the 171 we would need for 6 nights in a one bedroom standard view at BW for February President's week when kids are out of school (6 nights instead of 7 because we drive.)

Then added on a small 25 point contract to bring us up to 210. This gives us the chance to do a couple of week nights during F&W Festival in a one bedroon standard view, or more nights in a studio - so I can go with the girls once a year!

Maintenance fees aren't too bad cause total points aren't too high, and we get just enough Dis trips to sooth the urges! :cheer2:

because it takes 160 if we choose not to go to Disney and trade them in for some of the non-Disney properties.
I didn't know this! I was going to buy 158 because I need 316 every two years for a 2br in March But I should go for 160 huh? Can't wait to see the FedEx man tomorrow!
