Why did MDE let me book FP well before 60 days?

It appears to be for recent guests who had stays around the time Disney closed the ‘rolling window’ for Splits.

Can they book the entire 74-day window? Or is there a "gap" like we now see when the 60-day window opens?

Is your AP window still open and rolling without an onsite stay?

Yes, I have an MDE that has a set of unused AP vouchers. Those profiles have a rolling 74 and no reservation. I did have a couple times where I had to reload the FP+ page to get it to open. But usually when I first go to the FP+ planning page, the window is open. This MDE just "holds tickets" and has never had a resort reservation. And it's strange because it will let me book any day from today to day 74.

I have other MDEs with unused AP vouchers (and also no resort reservation) that do not have an open FP window past 30 days. And I have tried many times to reload the FP page to get those working without any success.

It's VERY weird that some MDEs it will open early and not for others.

My main MDE has a reservation starting June 1, so will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow (74 days out).

The reason why this glitch isn’t available to you is the hard close on rolling windows from Stays within the past two - three months.

That was the first thing Disney closed and then somehow opened up this ‘leading window’ for those who aren’t able to visit the parks on a regular basis.

My last trip was 2/2-2/7. Next one starts 5/5. Booked FP on rolling 74 across a three resort split stay. AP. Not sure how any of that fits in.

If you are DVC, the coding is apparently different for Split Stays as in they haven’t or can’t close the rolling.

Not DVC but am renting points for the middle of my resorts. Others are cash stays.

Is it because the DVC is in the middle? Would DVC/cash/cash have interrupted continuous rolling booking? Is that also what allowed the 74 day window? Even though my cash stay was first? Too odd, but I am happy that I was able to book early as my 60 days fell in the middle of a 7am-9pm five day work week-gotta get the Disney money somehow!!!!

I’m not sure of the exact parameters, but on the Rumors Board, there’s testing going on. DVC resort Splits are behaving differently from all regular resort splits.

It’s worked for others with date-based tickets. anoma and I were discussing the window length in relation to the glitch.

FWIW, as an IT server person I have a theory and have seen similar happen with other non-Disney services. To maintain reliability and multiple service requests Disney would have not one but most likely multiple servers synchronized back to one database. For arguments sake let’s say there’s 10. When you visit the website the load balancer randomly assigns your computer to talk to one of the 10 servers. It would only take one of these servers to have bad/experimental/incorrect (“glitch”) configuration for the early FP error to happen. For example, one box is set to 74/75 days out and the rest are 60. This is why some people will see it and others will never see it. Now Disney may know about it, they may not, or not care as the number of people using this is minimal compared to the overall traffic and they would have an update planned for the future. As as updates often cause other issues (perhaps like this one) the rollout for fixes and updates are generally combined.

Aren't there some AP holders who have had this window open for them? Is it because they haven't been to the park in the last 3 or 4 months? Is this what we can assume Disney is using to "allow" others that window?

I was there in February and was able to book early. I also had no problems when I did it. I ended up booking the first 5 days of my trip one evening when I learned about the opening and then daily for the other three. I didn't have it freeze on me or anything. I use Safari.

How funny! I was there Feb 3-7 and arrive again may 5-12 for a resort split stay.

Very interesting. I have a co-worker who is very familiar with databases who gave me a similar theory to explain some of the differences in experience people have refreshing to get same day FPs. In both cases it seems like it's not a random assignment to begin with (people who have had the glitch wide open seem to continue to have it wide open). It seems like people might have a home server they're assigned to for some reason (geography or something else) but sometimes when the load is unbalanced they get randomly assigned to a server that isn't their usual one.

I have been thinking about why this is glitcher for some than others. Thank you!

Yikes! This sounds complicated. Props to you guys for figuring out what's going on here.

All I know is I saw this thread, went to MDE and booked my FP a week early, I did exactly zero extra work to do it.

Today is my 60 day mark. All FP made under the glitch arr still there. I will still check obsessively but I feel pretty confident they are safe and will work fine when we get there.
