Why did it take me so long to start watching The Office?

Redact that!! OMG - I needed that laugh after the hell week I have had :O)

I loved it last night when Michael deemed himself a great "philanderer" for organizing the casino night. Then he was going to support Comic Relief. Too funny. :thumbsup2

So glad to find other fans! I have been obsessing over this show since I found the British version . . . and didn't think I could ever love the American version as much. But Steve Carrell is so wonderful . . . he's no Ricky Gervais, but that's okay -- he is wonderfully unique in his own way.

Me too! I rented the British DVDs and fell in love with this show. You just spend the whole half hour gasping and saying "OMG he didn't just say that did he??"

Last night's highlight for me was when the guy (I don't ever remember names, sorry) was explaining why the Boy Scouts shouldn't come to casino night. :rotfl2:

I absolutely love this show! The characters are hilarius! The ending last night, OMG what can I say!!!!

I had recorded the last show and I don't know if my DVR recorded the last minute or not.

I saw Pam in the office talking to her mom and then Jim came in.

Is that how it ended? Did it just stop there? :confused3 My DVR is weird when the shows have different start and end times.

TIA

Well there is the part after he comes in when HE KISSES HER! OMG I couldn't believe he did that! But yay for the Office! Absolutely loved the episode! I was laughing and crying the entire time!

Stupid cliffhanger is gonna keep me on edge all summer! Come back Office!

All I can say is my DD had her play last night, I thought I recorded it..but sat down to watch and I messed it up. I am now severly depressed!!!!!!!!

The best part of both shows is the realness of the characters. They're not glamorized at all. So good to see real-looking people on T.V., imperfections and all! Yay! Been waiting for this for years!! Jim is alittle too handsome, but I'll let them slide on that one I guess. ; )

Actually, did you know about half the cast is actually the writers of the series? Ryan the temp, Kelly (Ryan's "girlfriend"), Toby the HR guy. Toby (Paul Lieberstein) also wrote "Greg the Bunny" - very funny show! Here's an interview with Ryan (BJ Novak) on TWOP.

I loved the finale - Jim was actually crying when he told Pam!! I love him - I would so take him over stupid Roy.

I LOVED that part... It was Toby the HR Guy...

"Actually I didn't think it was appropriate to invite children, since its uh, you know, gambling, and alcohol and its in our dangerous wharehouse, and its a school night and you know Hooters is catering, uh, is that enough... should I keep going?"

Toby was brilliant! I'm glad he feels good about beating Michael! Maybe will see more out of him next season.

My favorite part was Daryl talking about all the helpful interracial words he taught Michael. "Goin, Mach 5....Dikken Flicker" and the great hand shake! Got to love Daryll for getting back at him.

How could Pam deny him when he was crying...that would have sealed the deal for me.

I just started watching this only two weeks ago..
I like it but it does take some getting used to with that camera moving all over the place all the time...It's almost like borderline headache for me...
I'm looking forward to watching it when it starts up again...

Oh, he's gotta be featured more next season, in the last couple episodes, he's become Michael's nemesis. Great show!!

I love this show! I loved Jim's "mind control" this week with the coat rack. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

It's going to be a long wait until season 3!

Yes, it will be awhile. But thank goodness for the Office Webisodes they plan on making. Even if I won't see Jim or Pam, I want to see SOMETHING from the Office! Anything from the show brightens my week. Even those small little April Fools PSA's.

"Don't eat the black jellybeans. There disgusting." - Jim

I can't WAIT for the web-episodes! Does anyone know when they start??

Interesting note about the American v. British episodes, though . Seemed to me that, in the British version, Dawn's choice was obvious: her "boyfriend" was downright mean, bordering on abusive. And Tim's efforts to woo her were more dangerous because Dawn's boyfriend/fiance (forget this name?) suspected Tim's motives and threatened him -- even hit him!

The American version raises more gray areas. Pam's boyfriend Roy is a bit of dolt; and not as fun as Jim; but nothing suggests that he deserves to be dumped. And Roy trusts Jim! Which makes Jim's actions more morally questionable?

I mean, believe me, I want Jim and Pam to prevail!!! I rooted for Dawn and Tim for YEARS and cried cried cried when she finally saw the light! But does anyone else see what I"m talking about? INteresting choices they have made in the America version -- even having Jim kiss Pam for the first time (in the English version, they never kiss until Dawn has finally realized her love for Tim -- and then SHE came to HIM . . .)

Please share your thought! I've got a long day at work ahead of me!!!

BTW, Great thread!! :thumbsup2

As much as I love the US version of this show (and I really do love it!) -- I do miss one element about the British version.

That is that deeper shared bond between Dawn and Tim -- a shared wish that someday both of them would escape their ho-hum jobs and follow their dreams. It added such a sweet element that so many office workers around the world could understand -- and it ultimately what draws her back to him, despite everything that has happened. The US version started dabbling with that theme and then let it drop -- I wonder why?

I wonder why they put less emphasis on that element in the US version? It seems like such a wonderful and universal (and very American?) dream.

Just curious what others thought! :wave2:

p.s. -- my favorite line from the season finale? "Scrantonicity." Amazing. Truly. I was blown off my chair laughing at that one . . . :rotfl:

Tim and Dawn on the Christmas special was probably my favorite tv moment ever.

I have to ditto this. What a way to finally wake up and realize "This is the man who really "gets" me? My true love!"

*sigh* :lovestruc

Besides which: How adorable is Martin Freeman?? Anyone? :cool1: :cool1:

Yup -- this bugged me at first as well. Now, however, I have decided "Yay, I could enjoy looking at that face every week!" And it doesn't bother me anymore!

   is right! John Krasinski is my secret crush.

I just read an article on NBC's fall line up: http://community.tvguide.com/forum.jspa?forumID=700000049. Looks like The Office is moving to 8:30pm on Thursdays. I hope Survivor doesn't kill it. If I have a choice between the two (and I watch both) I'm choosing The Office.
