Why did it have to be snakes?

I have a question about the Indiana Jones ride, which I am super excited about since it was on refurb the only time I was at DL. Anyway, are there scenes with snakes in them? I know if it's anything like the movies there will be, but my Mom is really freaked out by them, even fake ones. She's going to be with me on at least one of the days, so I just need to know if she should sit this out. I don't wanna youtube it so as not to spoil the whole ride for myself.

Thanks.

Without any spoilers, YES there are snakes :scared1:
Your Mom might want to skip :goodvibes

Yeah, I figured as much. I mean, what would Indy be without a snake pit of some kind? I told her I'd find out though as we were going over her will/won't do rides. And she might really have a major freak-out if she sees the snakes (she even jumps at the garden hose sometimes)! It's bad.

Thanks for the info!

(Not spoiling too much) Oh, she'll definitely see a snake or two. It's kind of a can't miss.

I suggest viewing youtube for a ride video.
The snake part is very short, and there really aren't a lot of snakes.

There IS one part where the snake is a major part of the ride, although a very short scene.

If she truly has a phobia of snakes then she probably shouldn't go.

You can also go on the attraction, and check it out to make sure, then go on it with your mom. :)

i hate snacks and spiders like scream around them living, but i can and do make do with it on the rides. I love IJ so wouldn't miss it

Remember though, that Indy himself doesn't like snakes, matter of fact, he hates them. However, he does not allow his phobia to deter him from his archeological field work and the many exciting exploits and adventures that occur.
For as long as one doesn't look dead on into the eyes of Mara, you should be ok. Not a guarantee of course, just that only a few tourists from over time have not been accounted for, well so far anyway. The last one went missing back in November of 38' that's 1938. So that's why I say one should feel fairly safe while visiting the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.
Not to beat a dead snake with a rock, but it is imperative that I repeat how important it is to not look into the eyes of that magnificent, powerful and most vengeful deity, Mara!

Yep, really no need to fear the snakes, it's Mara to worry about the most.
See, the mama snake that greets you, is just saying hello. She won't be hungry for another human until the next full moon. Even then, she only devours those that Mara despises, or that have crossed her! Now, the smaller snakes that are in the pits, dine off of rodentas. They have no taste for humans, because they don't agree with their particular digestive system. Now on the other hand, the big mama snake might have babies at the time, and they will nibble upon your body parts if you are not real careful with what you do and where you might explore. So just to be FOREWARNED!

The main snake in the ride is super fake. I dont think anyone would every confuse it with a real snake to be afraid of it

Don't be fooled! The snake that you are referring to, is only used by Indy and his associates when the real mama snake is out and about, or is outside the Temple sunbathing.

There are also rattle snakes on top of Big Thunder Mountain...just FYI...

If she does decide to ride, have her sit as far left in the car as she can. My kids always make me sit "snake-side" :rotfl2:

:lmao: Giselle!

Yes, definitely snakes but if she sits on the left side... where my kids prefer to sit (... and by "kids" I mean kids and full grown macho hubby), she should be okay. I don't remember other snakes but I suppose if she has a genuine phobia, she might notice snakes where I did not.

My first time on Indy I was 16 years old. I sat on the right side and not expecting said snake part, I ended up screaming and literally trying to climb onto the girl beside me. I even ripped her shirt! And I don't even have a fear of snakes...

Such a fantastic ride though. One of Disney's best, hands down.

Thanks for all the info. Now I just have to decide to either share this information with her...or don't! :rolleyes1 Could be funny! I dunno, we'll see how she feels when we are there.
