Im looking at flight for august compared to what we paid last year and the prices are so much higher?! Why is that? The economy is the same and so is gas?

Last year we paid $79 each way and now it looks like $130
True.....but not when you need to buy six tickets!
Has Spirit and Airtran released their flights for your dates? If not, Delta prices will be higher until they do. At least that has been my experience with flying out of DTW. Have you checked FNT?
$260 round trip is not as low as it gets from DTW, but it's pretty close. I would not sneeze at that number. August is not exactly a peak time to fly to MCO (it's one of the few times of year that the weather up here is better) so prices *might* dip. But they might not.

My tickets out of DTW normally 220-240 every march same week, this year the lowest I could find 350! And that was with stops etc! Just the times I guess.
Southwest and AirTran no longer compete with each other, because the former bought the latter. Those days are gone.we've been to WDW four times now and have never paid over $200 round trip...non stop...southwest and airtran....all in august and sept.
