Why combine magic pins?

I just combined two fireworks magic pins to see what would happen, and I can't see any difference in the magic. Does combining make the magic last longer? If so, does this prove true with all the types of magic pins?

It makes the magic last longer, and it reduces the interval that you have to wait to use them again.
