make a cash reservation and request a lock-off. ??

we havn't enough points and because we need the lock-off (we have a disabled son and the hoist will only go under the pull-down in the living room so gives him more privacy as my parents come) the told me I can only have a dedicated because we are paying for 2 nights cash :confused3

I don't know your answer, but can you go to BWV, they only have lock-offs as 2 bedrooms.

You might try posting on the disABILITIES Forum or even sending a PM to SueM in MN - She is a moderator of the DisAbilities Forum and may have some ideas for you. I am thinking there is a special number to get info/help re the WDW resorts for those with special needs. Maybe the CMs in that department can help you get an exception to the DVC "no cash for lock outs" rule due to your son's special needs.

I think the rule is because DVC would prefer to rent the lock offs as separate 1 bedroom and studio units. For example, I don't think OKW has very many (if any at all) dedicated 1 bedroom and studio units.

Good luck - hope you are able to work something out.

Best wishes -

I think it's because DVC choses to do so. They tend to push the dedicated 2 BR units first and that's what they chose for cash options. You MIGHT still be able to get a lockoff when you check in but not way to guarantee it. This will vary somewhat from resort to resort. BWV doesn't have dedicated 2 BR units and OKW doesn't have pull outs in the second so I'll assume it's not either of those. You could borrow or rent points and reserve the unit you want if available.

They tend to book the dedicated 2 BR first. It sounds like they had booked all the lockoff's they currently plan to do so at this time and that that room type is essentially not available. Go on a wait list and/or call back.

what annoyed me the most was that we called right at the 11 month window. now baring in mind we were been told you CANNOT get a lock-off using cash then cash reservation hadn't book them all and we phoned right at the 11 month window to use points how can all these rooms 293 or so be full :confused3 :confused3 I just don't get it.

good news is we have got is sorted by booking a 1 bedroom and a studio :confused3

I believe they simply don't do cash for the lockoff's so it didn't matter when you called. Hopefully they will be connected, it's possible they may not be.
