After yoyo dieting all of my adult life I have finally decided it's time to stop this cycle of losing and gaining.

I can't control Ray's health (for the most part), I can't control my brother's lymphoma, I can't control my mother's house burning down BUT

I can control what I put in my mouth!

So I took the black drapes off of bathroom mirrors, bought a scale and Ray I started Atkins 12 days ago.

Actually it's been rather easy, but I can't reach the 20 carbs a day. I read the book, but I can't find what to do. Do I need to eat 20? Usually after dinner I total anyhere from 12 to 16. The total calorie per day is around 1200.

Any help would really be appreciated. I see the wonderful results everyone is having and I really want to be apart of it.

try posting a sample menu of what you eat
20 is no problem for me

You might also try working on fitday.com. That site will help you keep track of what it is you are doing. You can analyze your portions and foods as well as your exercise. It is a bit of a labor intensive thing at first. Once you get the "hang" of it that is a great site. There is another site that someone posted to analyze weight to calories that would assist in determinig the amount you want to consume per day for maintenance and loss. I just don't have it right now. I will try to find it.

Good luck on your journey.

Gee, no menus that was stupid. This is what I had for today

Breakfast: 1 Egg 1
2 slices of bacon 0

Lunch: 3 oz Hamburger 0
1 cup lettuce 1
1 tbsp dressing 1

Snack: 1 boiled egg 1

Dinner: 6oz roast beef 0
1 cup lettuce 1
.5 cup asparagus 4
1 tbsp dressing 1

I did this on fitday and it totalled 1150 calories.

What do you suggest?

Atkins says "eat NO MORE than 20" carbs per day on induction, so if what you are doing works for you then stick with that. I don't see any problem with having fewere carbs, as long as you are satisfied with your food, and your weight loss. I probably weigh more, and have a desire to eat more than you, but that is what works for me.

hi - sounds like you're doing most of the right things...however about half or more of your daily carbs should come from veggies.

i've been doing atkins since feb 26th and have lost 45 pounds so far, have a ways to go..

for breakfast try adding some veggies, i usually have some pepper/onion mix with my eggs.

for lunch, 1 cup of salad (if just lettuce) has about 1 carb. try adding some other veggies or tomatoes. i love the cherry tomatoes (.6 carbs each).

again for dinner, up the amount of the second veggie or even add a third! again boost the carbs in your salad.

hope this helps

Follow the limits on vegetables but be sure to eat more than just one cup of lettuce. You don't need to eat the entire allowance of 20 carbs, that is the MAXIMUM you are allowed, not a minimum.

Why are you eating just one egg for breakfast? If you like cheese you can add 3 oz daily, if you want. Each ounce of cheese is at least one carb.

It's great to see you here, CandyKisses. Tell Brad I said

I don't hit 20 a day....no problem...you just can't go over 20 per day in induction. You are doing great..keep it up!

You might just want to make it two cups of lettuce or put some cucumber/celery/tomato/purple cabbage in it. You'll probably then need to add another tablespoon of dressing, but your calories are OK, you can afford another 100 cal. on dressing.

When I'm being "a good girl" :teeth: , I never make it to 20. THOSE days aren't my problem, if you know what I mean.
