We always book rack rate. We apply a discount if one becomes available. If not, we pay rack rate. I'm not sure what you are saying n2mm. Are you saying no one should book a room until a discount becomes available if they intend to use that discount? You seem to be blaming BRP on people who book early and then apply a discount if one becomes available. How else should it be done? If I book early at rack rate and a discount later becomes available, should I decline that discount? Say what?
If we waited until discounts come out (if at all), we would never have a room for our annual F&W trip. I book our BWV in January for October. Otherwise, I wouldn't get it! This year, for the first time in a couple of years, I got a discount with BRP at 60 days out. Yipee! We're not paying rack rate this year!
I booked with BRP and then cancelled the reservation I had made last January. How else should this be done? Should I not book the room I want so that the inventory looks fuller and others are more likely to get discounts? Sorry, no can do!
I book at rack rate and apply a discount later, if possible. And, I for one, am happy with BRP. As I said, it's the first time in a couple of years we haven't had to pay rack rate!
