Why Can't I Get That Castle Level! FINAL PICS INSTALLMENT 6-28-10

You've got some really great pics there! Thanks for sharing. I don't know what it is about that castle, but I can't level it for the life of me, either.

Thanks. I have been surprised at the number of people who are having the same problem. As I posted earlier, I really believe it is built that way! I may have a way of posing that question to a high Disney official. I will see if I can get an answer.

While going through my images, this one struck my fancy!

Beautiful photos, Gianna's Papa.

I'm glad to see others have the same problem with tilt that I did. I thought it was just me. It drove me crazy in pp on my last trip! My new camera has a built in level and it's a handy feature.

I'm a fan of the #2 photo of the water"fall" at EP. :thumbsup2

As for getting the castle straight - so relieved (you guys have no idea) that I'm not the only one who has this issue!

Just a few from the 3,000! These are straight out of the camera JPEG's with no PP.

I'm just getting into photography, my husband is much better than me. But your pictures are amazing! I have to ask though, in this picture, what caused the mickey (on the right hand side, a shadowy mickey). Was it a balloon?

Thank you. I was wondering if anyone was going to notice that. It was a little girl wearing Mickey ears sitting on her father's shoulders. With the longer exposure it "ghosted out" the actual people and left an almost transparent shadow. I was surprised when I saw it. I look at it as my own personal "Hidden Mickey"!:rotfl2: Sometimes you just get lucky.

I will be posting some more soon. After three days of looking at pictures, I had to get out and shoot something so I took some images of the Asiatic Lilies that had bloomed while we were on vacation.

Some real nice work there! Looks like the camera/lenses were working well for you.

I've never seen one of the Green Army Men with an exposed face before... I wonder why he was like that instead of the usual mesh over his face?

Thanks, the lenses performed well. Some of the close-ups were because we were actually that close. In some you will see a rope (Gepetto picture). We had some pixie dust magic and ended up with preferred seating for the parade. We were at the Liberty Square Bridge with about six others. We were the only ones for the performers to interact with.

Until you said that I forgot they usually have the mesh. He was interacting with the crowd and acting a lot like a Drill Instructor!

This trip I did a lot of looking up, down and photographing signs. Don't have a clue why, but I did see some things I hadn't seen before.

My pics make the castle look like the Leaning Tower of Pisa:rotfl:It's nothing new for me I've been doing it for years when I get hot and tired. In May on my solo trip I actually made a concerted effort to get a few right by lining it up with the grid. When I'm with the family I shoot wide and straighten later.

So true about lightening the load. In May I brought along some filters and a manual 50 1.2 but won't do that again. It wasn't worth it. During the day my limit is the Nikkor 18-200VR and a Sigma 30mm on my D200. At night it's the Sigma 30mm and Nikkor 50 1.4 with a very light tripod.

Your pics are just beautiful! Perfect exposures! Really enjoying them.
Do you shoot RAW & Jpeg?

Thanks for the tour of Disney signs! You put together a great collection. I need to get in the habit of photographing the little details more.

Yes, its a memory eater, but it works for me. I like the instant gratification of the JPEG, but if I miss a shot, I also like the ability to salvage it. In "One Man's Dream", my family was rushing and I only had one chance at Walt's office and I blew it. Here is the result.

While it may not be the best, I was able to salvage something. PP is not my strong point, but I'm learning. As I learn more about my PSE 8, I can always go back and make it better.

Wow! I'm just now upgrading to do more with my PP. That's a remarkable difference! I did the same thing on our trip and shot in RAW plus Jpeg, and for the same reasons as you.

Can you tell me what you did in PSE8 to get the improvement?

I corrected the exposure, sharpened and adjusted what I could of the color. With my lack of expertise, I could only make minor adjustments because of the poor initial exposure.

On this trip we actually we made an effort to see more shows than on past trips. We are usually ride folks.
