We will be checking in on March 4th and have been trying for the last 4 weeks to get reservations for the show on that night or March 8th. Since we are on the DDP we can only use it for category 2 or 3 seats and the 9pm show is too late for the kids. I can't believe everything else is sold out for both those nights. According to Touringplans it is supposed to be fairly low crowds, but even making other ADR for that week was tough. Anyone have any tips? I've heard about getting day of reservations and also checking back in case someone cancels, but do people really cancel for that show?

More reservations do come up... for instance we were looking for an ADR at 'Ohana. I checked online every day for a few weeks and eventually one came up.

The HDDR is a great show. Are you sure your kids couldn't last for the 9pm show? My 6 year old brother fell asleep at every other evening meal we had, but was kept wide awake, laughing his head off at HDDR.

Category 1 makes the show so much better, we found. If you book the 9pm showing, subject to availability, you will get a Category 1 table.

If you know for certain your kids won't be able to stay awake for that long then just keep looking for an ADR to come up. Good luck! :)

How many are in your party? I am seeing availability at 5:00 on the 4th but for 4 people. That might be a problem if you have a large party.

Well believe it. You are trying to make reservations less than 6 weeks out for some of the most desired seats in WDW. Most people reserve this show many months in advance. And you have restricted your availability further by only wanting cat 2 or 3 seats. I just checked and saw availability for both dates for the 7:15, but that was for a party of 2. As for your other ADRs, if they are for very popular spots, then it's entirely possible that they are already fully booked. And have been for quite a while.

As the PPs have suggested, it is possible that if you just keep checking back frequently something may open up after a cancellation. Many restaurants and ALL of the dinner shows need a credit card hold. You have to cancel your ADR if you aren't going to show up, or you will be charged a no show penalty. In the meantime I would suggest that you go ahead and book something else so you will at least have some kind of ADR for those nights.

I'm not surprised, people have been making reservation 180 out. Keep trying.

I agree with PP. Reservations open up 180 days in advance of arrival so most of us on here know to hurry and book popular spots. Also we are traveling March 5-9th and we are inside our 45 day mark so cancellations are less likely. Not impossible, people change their minds but less likely. I do wish you lots of luck though!!
