As some of you will know we had booked to fly from LHR to MIA with Virgin using M+M, however over the last couple of days DW and DD1 and DD2 not happy with having to fly from GLA-LHR and then on MIA. Phoned Virgin and have now rebooked flying from GLA at an extra cost of £1000, not happy myself with this increase, but DW says it would have cost £400 for internal flights plus £200 for hotel in London so only a differnce of £400 plus less hassle. I pointed out that we will only be going for 14 days instead of 18.

Why can they not be happy with what they had?

That's families for you. At least you are going to see the mouse.

Glad you are sorted.

How old are DD1 and 2, If they are 16 plus I'd have been tempted to leave them behind!!!

Personally I wouldn't have changed it but then I've been told I can be a bit hard faced. I hate it when kids are ungrateful, I would have just told them that I was leaving them at home, it would have done the trick with mine because they know that I would've meant it haha.
I'm not a ***** I just have a low tolerance for bulls**t pirate:
Maybe I am hardfaced....haha x
Don't let it get you down, just remember what a fantastic time you are going to have :goodvibes

:rotfl2: I think you and I are cut from the same cloth :lmao:

My point of view is the person paying has the final say. I was the same for my wedding: "Mine! Mine! Mine!"

However I do understand that there are times when forking out some cash to avoid grumbling and complaining can be well worth it :rolleyes1

At least it's all sorted now skelfbsfb .... and you can always use your act of graciousness and generosity as a tool to manipulate what you want during the course of the trip ;)

That's fine, just see how happy they are when you tell them that the extra £400 is coming out of their spending money :)

Oldest DD1 (19) has offered to give me £100 towards it.

Im just annoyed as I was looking forward to spending 18 days instead of 14 and if I had know this I would have booked TC instaed of Virgin as we flew with TC last year and were really good.

Do they know that they now have less days purely due to the flight change:confused:

My I would so rather have a pain in the butt flight for an 4 extra days in Orlando.

I was lucky enough to get 6 x PE M+M seats for our forthcoming October holiday, however my mind was already set for possibly having to fly indirect or maybe extend our holiday by a day or so at either side to fit in with the flights at prices I was happy with.

Once I got the exact flight I wanted there was a part of me that was a little gutted, I think I was looking for an excuse to stay longer :rolleyes1

I didn't realise your children were as old as that. I personally don't think indirect is much, if any, more hassle than direct, save for perhaps a slightly longer time in transit. Even with DD when she was a baby on my own with a big pram and car seat, it wasn't impossible.

Much as I have the same take on it as you, it has been changed so try not to let it get you down. If you are going to use your sacrifice to benefit you in the future, blackmail, bribery, guilt trips and a few others come to mind :lmao: Thankfully you still have 2 full weeks. Perhaps you can start posting your itinerary and plans now to work up your enthusiasm for your newly tailored trip. We solemnly promise to agree with whatever you say ;) and make you feel good. :goodvibes

That really made me chuckle to myself, the thought of my daughter's face if I said that to her....:rotfl:

Yes, the money talks :rolleyes1 At the moment my line to my DD (who is only 8) is that if she doesn't stop being picky about her veg or any other aspect of the wholesome meals I lovingly prepare for her, I will be downgrading her to the kids Dining Plan next year. Funny how she suddenly 'hates' cherry tomatoes, but they vanished in an instant  Bottom line is I think it is easy for family members to take for granted the person(s) who plans/pays/cooks or whatever else. Once the suggestion is hinted at that they should contribute in some way, it throws a whole new perspective on things.
