Why buy odd numbers of points?

My understanding is that they can reallocate points for any given week, but not increase them. If so, why on earth would I be squealing like a pig if and when this happens?:p
I don't have the POS in front of me be here's my recollectin. DVC can reallocate the points as long as the total points for a unit remain the same. Remember a unit in POS terms is not a single room or villa. At OKW it's a building, at the others it's a collection of villas grouped together. When VB originally started selling it was an entire floor but that meant they had to declare the entire floor into inventory in order to sell even one point for that portion. They then could not rent those as their own and lost income because of it so they changed it.

The concept is that they could reallocated days or even seasons. They could increase weekdays and decrease weekends. They could increase Adventure and decrease other seasons. The latter was what actually happened last time they did this (?96). A studio in adventure season went from 69 to 80 points with minor decreases in other seasons. The other size units had proportional changes. I don't think DVC has to make the changes evenly across all villa sizes but I think they did last time.

hmm... if you bought the exact number you needed for a week in Magic Season, isn't that pretty safe?

the only way you could get screwed over is if they significantly lowered the points cost for Premier Season (causing other seasons costs to go up), which seems highly unlikely.

That would be a pretty fair assumption. Someone like me though would get hurt because I chose to go in the off seasons mostly. Be thats a gamble I'm willing to take.

Unless it were for a studio. One who plans for Magic for a 2 BR has little worry. One who plans for a studio lower season should be very worried.

We own 348 pts, 150 at BWV, 100 at HH and we just purchase an add-on at HH for 74 pts. The reason for 74 is because my salesperson initially told me that HH was sold out, she then went back to "whoever" and it turned out that they had 2 contracts available, one for 61 pts and the other one for 74. So, I obviously was going to go with the 74 pt one....

So my odd number contract was by force, not by choice! Not too shabby though considering that I was initially going to go for 50 pts and ended up with 74 more ;)
