Why bring Duct Tape?

I'm just a bit confused. I've seen Duct Tape mentioned several times as an item to bring on the cruise, but I don't understand why? What am I missing? Thanks!

We could have used it to secure the wardrobe doors each night! They kept sliding open and closing with the motion of the ship: thus..........the internal wardrobe light kept swithing itself on! Nat

I don't think they'll let you bring the mink lined handcuffs on anymore so you have to settle for duct tape.

We wished we had brought duct tape on our recent cruise. One of our bags arrived with a major tear in it. Duct tape would have repaired that perfectly. We had to purchase another bag to get back home.

I also wished I had packed a small sewing kit. My husband didn't do a very good job packing shirts for himself. He didn't bring enough and one of the shirts lost the first button at the top. I had to buy him a DCL polo shirt to replace that one. It was either that or give him a bunch of gold chains and wear the buttonless shirt.

In general, duct tape is the universal temp solution. As mentioned you can fix a problem with a suit case. It can act as a quick fix to a torn hem line or in my DWs case, she had a hook and zipper that seemed to poke into her, so she cusioned it with a piece of duct tape.

It is a nice just in case kinda of thing to have. I actually have a book "The 101 uses for duct tape".

You can also buy flat rolls for easy packing.

Did your doors have velco? Ours had velcro to keep them closed, but you had to slide them to the correct side, or else they didn't have anything to stick to. Next time, if they don't stay closed, try switching their positions.
