I have noticed that there is a shortage of BCV points available for resale (and a higher per point cost). I understand that this is an open ended question, but can I read into this that BCV is a preferred destination over the other resorts?

Well, that does seem to be the case. We don't own BCV, we like to stay there for a short time during the Flower show and we have always been able to do that. If the BCV people who are buying now and paying the premium price only ever want to stay at BCV, we could be in "trouble." If it comes down to buying some points and not ever being able to stay there, we probably would buy some (100 ?) BCV points. It's true that someday I would love to bring our DGC down for a week at SAB.

For us, VWL is our all around preferred destination.

I'd say that BCV is a high demand resort (due to location, SAB pool and overally high quality affliliation of BC/YC resorts) and is also one of the smaller DVC resorts (only VWL is smaller).

So it's an Economics 101 case of high demand + low supply = High Price. :)

Although this is true, it does seem somewhat ironic since I've seen (what seems to me) so many posts about the supposed shabby condition of the BCV rooms. I'm a BCV lover, but what attracts me is the beachiness (is that a word?) and how it reminds me of the Cape Cod of my youth. Oh-and B&C right there.

And it reminds me and my family of Cape May, as it is now!

Sadly, that is proof of the popularity.

I just purchased 50 pts at BCV and was talking to my guide (paperwork never got sent to me EEEK!) He said the wait for BCV is now a YEAR and he is recommending to people to choose another resort or go resale if that is their heart's desire. I was only on the WL for about 2 months I guess it has gotten worse.

I bought the points for SAB and also because I know I can sell them for more than I paid. If the next resort is CR or AKL then I will sell and use the proceeds to buy there!!!

If you read my previous posts, look for "What is the appeal of BCV" and you should get lots of information. I just asked a similar question to yours a few weeks ago and received a lot of responses.

We just bought into DVC and my husband's only stipulation was that our points must be at BCV. The location is a big drawing point for us. We love walking to Epcot, strolling on the Boardwalk, the short boat ride to MGM and, of course, hanging out at Stormalong Bay. We have also stayed at VWL and I have stayed at BWV and like those resorts as well. We have reservations in December for SS and hope to try OKW someday soon. But BCV will always be our favorite and that is why we chose it for our home. We have been DVC members for not even 2 months and are already waitlisted for more BCV points!

We bought where we wanted to stay ~ BCV. :beach: The location (walking into the Worldshow case, taking a leisurely boat ride to EPCOT & MGM, on all our trips YC/BC/BCV always had their own bus so transportation was fabulous, love the general store (great gelato), B&C) and of course our 3 boys think SAB is a destination of its own. My oldest and I (he's 5) have some alone time we go night swimming, we get life jackets and float around the lazy river watching stars and talking. Then I get him a good night snack for the room. Dad puts his twin brothers to sleep while we are having special alone time. PRICELESS!!!! We didn't buy for the next 5 years we bought where we thought we'd spend the most time over the next 40 yrs , which for us would be EPCOT & MGM. Friends of ours who own at OKW and BWV are seriously thinking of selling or trading for BCV if they experience any more problems getting into BCV. Of course when there is a monorail DVC we will add on. All my boys, DH included are monorail nuts.

Location, location, location. We were unable to buy when BW was available, so when we heard about BCV we knew this was it. We bought where we want to stay. We have considered staying at other DVC properties on site, but when we have to decide, we always pick BCV. So, buying where you want to stay is right on target for us. No regrets at all.
