Hi All! I have been to WDW 2 times now and am more obsessed than ever! I just wanted to know from other Disneyholics what are your reasons for your obsession? I know mine is because it is a place that inspires true joy. I can give my children all of those memories to cherish that I never had as a child. (the first time I went to WDW I was 37) From the moment I arrive to the moment I leave, I can let the stress and pressure of the real world melt away for a short while and live life like an 8 year old again. Do your friends, coworkers or family think you are a little nuts? I could spend all of my vacations there and am already thinking of another trip within the next year or so. :cool1: I would love to hear your reasons and thoughts. Thanks so much for sharing!

I am for sure. We have been back only 1 week and I am in a funk :goodvibes
I miss WDW when I am not there

It's truly awesome to leave reality behind and just spend time with my amazing family, and like you said, be a kid again
We go to WDW about every 2-3 years, and yes, we go on other vacations **gasp** :rotfl:
But I never seem to have as much fun planning those
Disney World is my Happy Place :wizard:

I practically grew up at Disneyland. I love all things Disney. I grew up watching Disney movies. It always brings happy memories of my childhood and I love sharing those memories and making more with my family.

... I think I need new glasses. I read the title as "Why are you a Dyslexic?" and thought, WTH? Maybe it's all that time in the FP and ADR threads that has my brain bugging out!

At any rate. I have no idea. We went there when I was growing up many times (9 I think, maybe 10), and there's just something about it that I cannot put my finger on. It doesn't necessarily bring up old childhood memories now a days or anything, it just is.

Part of why I return is because it's awfully difficult to travel to other locations without a vehicle and by myself. And because I'm lazy and it's easy to book it all in one :p

I grew up loving Disney movies and music. I love the characters. They make me happy. I went to WDW for the first time when I was 30. Now I love WDW beyond reason. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, there are other places to go. But I want to go to WDW where I can pretend I'm 7 again and show my kids that Mommy isn't always so serious. I love to dance down Main St. with my boys. I love to hug Tigger. And it makes me really happy that DH and I can afford to take the kids and just have fun with them.

Because there is so much to do and see at Disney. Just love the resorts, the parks, the restaurants, the pools, and planning of it.

I would have to say that there is no other place on earth like Disney. Since I took my daughter to DL the first time when she was 8 (now 15) it was magical like no other vacation. I can remember waiting to watch the electrical parade in Disney's CA Adventure and while waiting they had entertainers getting people to hoola hoop and grabbed me and my daughter in to join and then to do the limbo. It was like being a kid again and so much fun acting like I was 8 again just like her. This will be our first time to WDW, but since our second DL trip we have been talking about going to WDW as we both absolutely love Disney. Now, I am taking about a Disney cruise next as I think that there would be no better cruise than a Disney Cruise. All I have to say is that Disney IS the happiest place on earth.

I can totally relate. I love WDW -- our most recent trip was pure bliss. We literally walked off the plane and on to the ME bus - arrived at the resort - check in was seamless - had a great dinner - enjoyed the parks - returned to the room with our luggage awaiting us - and turn down service w/chocolates on the pillow - and that was just day one. :cloud9: :wizard:

I never went as a kid. It was a dream world that people talked about like being over the rainbow or something. LOL Totally unrealistic and unreachable.
I finally got to go for the first time, the year I was married, when I was 26, and it was everything I had ever dreamed and more. I wanted my kids to experience it while they are young. So, we have been a few times.
We started off going every couple of years...then every year. Now, we can't stop ourselves. There is always a reason to celebrate! :lovestruc

Because for me and my oldest son (though I suspect it's for all of us in my family) Disney = HAPPINESS! As my oldest has said to me lately, "It's like a spell Disney puts you under when you're there (in WDW or in even a Disney Store) and you can't help but smile and be happy." Pretty succinct from my 11 year old. :goodvibes:thumbsup2

I fell in love with Disney after my first visit in 1976 at age 13. Since then I've been able to experience it at many phases of my life: older teen, honeymoon, parent of one, parent of two, pre-teens, teens and finally going to go with an official 'adult'. Disney has just been such a big part of my life and I always feel such joy when I see the welcome sign for the first time. I can look at certain areas in MK and remember being there with my grandmother, who passed away years ago. I remember being allowed at age 16 to go with my cousin by ourselves on the boat to MK. Our first pina colada as a married couple at the Polynesian. I feel sad when I return home and know I won't be going back for awhile.

"Let the memories begin" - I think that pretty much sums it up.

I feel sad when I return home and know I won't be going back for awhile.

I think most of us do, I know I always did! the depression started even before I left home prior to the trip because now it was happening and would soon be over. For our family, we did find a cure, DVC. :yay: KNOWING you have a trip within a year or 2 years in any direction brings hope and softens the blow. :flower3::love: This medication is not covered by insurance, but it well worth the price. :cloud9: :rotfl:

It's such a happy place. I had always wanted to go here when I was little but my parents weren't into "theme parks" so instead, we went to Vegas 3 times :confused3 I finally planned my trip and booked it only to have my mom pass away a month later. We canceled immediately. I was a mess for the following year. My mom was my best friend. Finally, I decided we needed to go. We booked again and went. It was truely amazing and I wish I could take her there with us. It makes me forget all my worries and just enjoy the time I have with my kids. The memories are so great, I can't even put it into words.

We went in May for our first trip, I'm going in 13 days again. I am hooked.

I grew up in FL..just 30 mins from The Magic Kingdom....cause thats all that was there when I lived there in the 1970's. I have such fond memories of jumping in the car for quick day trips, camping at FW with friends and family and searching my house and my best friend's house for the old ride coupon books that had tickets left in them before heading over to the park. We always took visiting family there when they came. I had a break in my trips after we moved to VA when I was 12, but started going again when I got married. I have so enjoyed being able to take all 4 or my kids to my favorite place. Seeing the joy in their eyes is just sheer joy for me:goodvibes
It is my absolute favorite place to be on earth and I would love to live closer to the World one day again:goodvibes

For me it's the nostalgia. For almost a decade in the 80's, my parents took us to Disney World every year. I have such fond memories of those trips that going to WDW is like going home to me, and now I get to share all new memories with DW and DD.

I think I'm a Disneyholic because just as soon as I walk in there, all my troubles and stress are gone. I can just enjoy the atmosphere, it really makes me feel like I'm in a Disney movie myself. I also love meeting the characters from all the movies and collecting their autographs. There's no place in the world like that, where I can meet all those characters!

I think another reason might be that I have grown up with Disney ever since I was a little girl. I took my first trip to WDW when I was only 2!

Family time is my last reason. My family doesn't always get to spend a lot of time together, but when we're at Disney, we can ride everything together, and we spend a lot more time together than we normally would! Disney is the place where a lot of family moments happen for us!

Those are my reasons for being a Disneyholic!

:earsboy: I wear my mouse ears every day when I'm not there!

For me, it's a comfort thing. Disney is the one and only place that I would feel comfortable vacationing by myself. I know where everything is, no map needed. I know how the rides feel, I know what smells to anticipate, I know what music I should be hearing. I like familiarity and comfort, and Disney is HOME. Well, home away from home :goodvibes

well..

for me Disney world is magical, no matter how many times ive been
(every year for the past 15yrs)
or how many times ive been on the rides, seen the parades,,, its still magical.

Everytime i go i am as awestruck at the sight of the castle just like i was when i was young.

The world is full of happy smiling faces, everyone wanting to have a magical time. the magic is very alive and i dont think the magic will ever dissapear at disney.

people keepm saying its gone downhill... well it hasnt... its perfect in my honest opinion. as long as mickey and pals are still their so will i :wizard::wizard:

In 1956 my mom took me by train across the country from West Virginia to California to see this new place called Disneyland. I was 10 years old. I became hooked. I have been back there 5 times, the last time was over Christmas and New Years, and WDW dozens of times.
We were in Florida right after WDW opened. We raised our daughter on Disney and now our grandchildren. We will be there this December with just our 2 grandchildren for 8 days, can't wait. I would love to work there I love it so much.:)

I never got to go as a child. The first time I went I was 27 for a conference! I've been back 4 times since and every single time I just feel happy. I get teary when I see the castle for the first time. Like others have said, stress just melts away and there are no worries. Now I am loving experiencing it through my toddler son's eyes!
