why are these 2 VWL bathroom layouts different?

just curious about something...
i was looking at some old VWL pics that i'd saved onto my computer, and noticed that there are two different bathroom layouts for the 1-bdrm units.
i'm referring to the room that has the shower, sink and toilet.

i tried to put images in this post, but i don't think it works properly, so i've included a link to a page that i uploaded them to. click here to see pics of the different toilet setups

anyway, one layout has the shower, and sink and then a separate tiny claustrophobic looking room that houses the toilet.

the other layout has the shower, and sink, and then an open area with the toilet. so there's no separate tiny room w/ a door.

does anyone know why there are two different layouts? or how many different rooms have each layout? or how you might go about requesting one layout vs. another?

I stayed in a 1 bd with the separate toilet area, but I was watching the Travel Channel's "Great Hotel" series, and when the hostess showed the WLV, there was a bathroom with a toilet in the open.

I don't know why this is, or how many of each room type exist.

I think all units now must accomodate wheelchair/special needs entry. Perhaps these units were built after this accomodation rule went into effect. My guide mentioned this to me in Feb. when we did the walk through for BCV.

hmm...
so maybe the layout where the toilet is in an open area is considered a handicap accessible room?

actually this leads me to a related question. i know that studios designated handicap accessible are different from regular studios in that they have roll-in showers instead of a bathtub/shower.

so, how are the handicap accessible 1-bdrm + 2bdrm units different?

anyone else have any thoughts on my original question?

I had the opportunity to look at a BWV 2-br accessible room. The kitchen was different - bigger area I guess for a WC and the sink was smaller than the regular ones. The bathroom in the 1-br still had the whirlpool, but the shower didn't have the glass walls around it, it just had a shower curtain. Same shower set-up in the studio portion.

I have no idea why those WLV bathrooms are different, but I HATE those "toilet rooms" - BCV are like that.

Can the difference be between dedicated 2bdrm units and those that can a single 1 bdrm. unit or part of a 2 bdrm lockoff? When we were in the dedicated 2 bdrm, there was no separate door for the toilet in the main bath.

Not sure we are on the same page here. :) But, my guide said that all the doors, regardless of designation of the unit (ie: handicapped or not) have to have door wide enough to accomodate a wheelchair. He actually pointed out the width of the doors and explained it. Not everyone using a wheelchair would need a handicapped unit. You might actually have a visitor who is in a wheelchair. Call your guide, I am definitely sure he/she can explain it far better than I can. :)

No, that's not it. We stayed in a 2BR on the second floor that had the "toilet room" and in a 2BR on the fifth floor that did not. Both were dedicated 2BR's.

I personally like the "toilet room." It gives you a little bit of privacy in case someone just wants to come in and grab a comb or something.
