Why are there so many strollers?

Really....do we all have to judge each other's parenting styles so much. Why do we all tear each other apart???? We are all trying to plan nice vacations and whatever makes yours great.... have fun.... but leave the judging out of it please.

:thumbsup2

We did not take a stroller this trip as my daughter is 6 (almost 7) and my son almost 10. However on our last day, my daughter asked if we would get her a stroller because she said her legs were getting tired too quickly. She's a very small child, and in fact looks to be about 4. She was just tired and worn out. I would have much preferred not having the thing but it was worth not hearing her complain the whole day about having tired legs.

Conversely, my son was 5 on our first trip and never once needed a stroller. He just is that kind of kid.

Back in my day we didn't have strollers. We walked to the rides. Uphill. Both ways. Sometimes it would snow, but we were happy about it because we were lucky to be there. And we didn't have shoes. But we were lucky because we had feet. Not everyone has feet. So we were lucky. And happy.

I am having too much fun while at WDW and DL to notice strollers and that kid looks too old to be in a stroller. Honestly, it's not really any of my concern.

But haven't you noticed that for certain posters (on this thread and other threads on the Dis) a good part of the *fun* of going to a Disney park is the opportunity to be judgmental about sooooo many people at once!

Seriously, if you're a person who likes to feel superior (about parenting, or marriage, or touring styles, or diet choices, or how much money you have, etc. ad infinitum), Disney World is a dream destination.

Dare I suggest that this is a result of the same problem that has Americans getting fatter with every generation? You don't see many WDW patrons from parts of the world like South America pushing around older toddlers in strollers.

I beg to differ as the Portuguese speaking lady who ran over my two smallest toes, ripping off a toe nail in the process, as we were leaving Fantasmic in late October was pushing a child who looked to be 7ish and, um, heavier than average. (Don't wear flip flops in the dark, y'all! ;)). Yes, the child may be special needs, I don't know.

Other than that very unfortunate experience, I don't pay any attention to the ages of kids I see in strollers. This was our first trip without a stroller and I enjoyed the freedom but we took it very easy with daily rests as one of my kids has a congenital heart defect which tires him out.

All these "Disneyland is much smaller, better weather" posts are slightly annoying *while both statements are true that doesn't mean a visit there isn't exhausting for little *and big* ones.
We go all day, mid day break when hours are 8am-midnight, we're walking from place to place, standing in line. After a day and a half my legs ache. DD strolled in Disney up to/at age 8, she was out of one at home at 2, little stink, she hated the stroller at home.
Her Disney stroller was a Mac Volo, she's always been a petite thing.

We've been without a stroller for our last three Disney visits, DLR twice, WDW last Oct. It's been alright, I miss having a place to stow things.
She was 6 for our first WDW visit, it was miserably hot and humid *early Oct 2009* she strolled a lot.

Weird, responses keep disappearing from this thread for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

What do you expect from people who think their teenager is too young to use the bathroom on their own? Of course their grade schooler is too young to use their legs on their own.

Threads like this and the ECV threads remind me of the South Park episode Raising the Bar. Check it out and enjoy the laugh.
