Why are there so many stars?

I've shared checking the wait times on the app and there are always a bunch of attractions with stars where the wait time should be.

What's up with that?
Is this typical?

Those are actually not really attractions. They are things that Disney has on the app to take up space and make it look like there are more attractions than there are.

For instance Animal Kingdom lists 'african elephants' as an attraction, and that has a star next to it. While the elephants can be considered an 'attraction', they are only visible on the Safari, and therefore shouldn't really be listed as their own attraction but Disney wants it to seem like there is a lot of stuff to do.

Is it storming there? Lightening and rain will close some attractions. That would be my guess. Check a weather map.

The parks were open when I was checking, but it could be raining there... I don't know for sure. There are some times listed for some attractions, but not others. I'll check again throughout the day tomorrow and see what it shows. I would love to hear how accurate others feel the wait times are in comparison to what is posted and actual.

There definitely are a lot of things on there that will always have a star. They're "attractions" that don't post a wait time, like most character meets and things like the walking trails at AK.

For the most part. Sometimes towards closing the wait times will be greatly exaggerated. I've walked onto Soarin when it has a posted 40 minute wait. So if you are within an hour or so of the park closing, it doesn't hurt to enter the queue and check.
