why are their no rooms available during my stay?

They were eoffering specials for that time jsut a few weeks ago too. All through Aug and Sept there was a code out.

The lack of availability in early December has happened for at least the last few years. As has been mentioned, early December is when Pop Warner is there as well as Mousefest. Then you have the locals who visit for a weekend and the regular guests.

Usually, there is one day that causes the "all resorts full" problem. For the last few years this has been a Saturday. I did a quick check and found that only Saratoga Springs is available from December 6 to December 10. But there are a few resorts available from December 6 to December 7 and also from December 9 to December 10. So Saturday, December 8 appears to be the killer day this year.

The good news is that the parks are usually not too crowded despite the full resorts. The Pop Warner kids are busy with their competitions during the early part of the week and the Mousefest folks are only there for a few days.

If I was you I'd just book one of those rooms and keep calling until something opens up. And don't worry about the crowds - early December is still much much quieter than the middle of Summer - in fact there is no comparison.

I will be at ASMu 12/8 to 12/15. This is my second time booking during the second week of December. One day overlaps with Pop Warner (12/8) and I believe three days overlap with Mousefest (12/8 to 12/10). My family really enjoys a Disney trip at this time because of the holiday decorations, cooler temps, and believe it or not, less crowded parks. Disney resorts being totally booked does not translate to more crowded parks. Yes, Disney has seen an increase in attendance since 9/11 and our secret seems to be out but it's still a great time to visit.

POR is a great resort. Go and have a wonderful time! :goodvibes

New to this board, and first time to stay on WDW. I too was surprised at how little there is available. Was thinking about changing my plans but really want to see WDW at Christmas, plus my bday and Walt's are on 12-5 and want to celebrate there.

How are the lines for the rides at that time. 2 adults so won't be doing any of the kiddie rides. Any other advice for a novice? :santa:

Try changing your dates a little. I just reserved a second room at POP for Dec 13-22nd (decided to get the kids a room to spread out a little).

We went during this time last December and the crowds were very manageable. We never waited more than 15 minutes to ride anything, except the Safari at AK, but that was because we had to use a special handicapped truck for wheelchairs, but we didn't really wait more than 20-25 minutes for that. It did get a little more crowded with those Pop Warner kids (watch out some of them can be little terrors). Ahh, go ahead and ride the kiddie rides, we won't tell anybody, if you don't tell on us :rotfl:

Have fun!!!!!

We booked our rooms for our upcoming T'giving trip back in Aug the day the codes came out and were told then that there was very limited availability. Seems like WDW is the place to be these days....of course WE all knew that already.;)

Sure you're not mistaking "sold out" for "no discounted rooms" ?

We got $110 rooms for 12/15-12/16 (over a weekend) as FL residents. But the day before, my wife called and was told no discounted rooms available. so those come and go.

But as for ANY room, there were plenty both calls, just at the usual higher prices. Contemporary, moderates, Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, just about anything we tried was available.

One good idea is to check online at disney's website and also travelocity/etc.

My speculation on our situation was that my wife hit the CSR with too many choices, checking prices here and there and various discount codes, trying to find a good value for our situation (2 rooms and 5 people). I can't prove it, but my suspicion is that the CSR will, if you work them too much, eventually "shut down" and say "nothing available" to get you either into a room that is available at standard rates or off the phone so they can move on to an easier caller.

There is still availability for the week before Christmas, but before that there is almost nothing.

Princess Suzanne the kiddie rides make me dizzy :goodvibes but I'll be like a kid at Magic Kingdom!!!!!!princess:

Off topic...But what is Mousefeast? This is the first I have ever heard of it.

We ran into the same problem when we decided to upgrade to AKL or WL. No rooms anywhere!! We had booked CB earlier in the year and then a couple of months ago decided to upgrade - I checked online everyday with no luck and then one day a couple of weeks ago (just before the 45 day deadline!!) I found a room at the AKL! :cool1: I never dreamed it would be so busy that week - but as others have stated - there doesn't seem to be a slow time at WDW anymore!!

My suggestion - if you really want to change resorts - keep checking and calling! :goodvibes

I booked a room only for POR for Dec. 6 to 10 (2007). I often change my resort after initially booking. This time there's nothing available! Anywhere!!! (except OKW and AKL).
Anyone know what's going on during that time?
I've never been to Disney in the Christmas season, only in the busy summer season. With all these rooms booked, I'm wondering if it will be any less crowded than summer!

Stay at AKL, you won't regret it!

We booked a trip to POR in April 2006 but when we wanted to change AKL was the only one available for us, too. We decided to go for it and are so glad we did!
