You know, I realize the entertainment industry is not the best baramoter for good behavior but.....

So Taylor Swift wins an AMA award and Kanye West acts like a you know what and decides to ruin it for her. Ok, no problem every one pretty much knows Kanye is an idiot.
Now she wins a CMA and Wynnona decides to go public with a little tidbit about how Taylor does not deserve to win.

Now whether or not you think she has talent or has been out there long enough, she won.
Why the need to publicly tear her down? What happen to the good old days when the losers said stuff like "Its a honor just to be nominated" Even if you didn't mean it, couldn't you smile and show some class?

edited to add the link.

Sorry.

At last night's CMA Awards show, host Brad Paisley likened the country community to one big family--"George Strait plus eight," he joked.

And, truth be told, he's not too far off the mark. Nashville is an insular and protective community--sure, it's full of gossip and pettiness and all the other things you find in any tight-knit group. But, as Paisley humorously noted, most of the time everyone gets along pretty well.
Most of the time.

What's up now, you ask? Well, country legend Wynonna Judd (a presenter at last night's show) has declared that Taylor Swift--who won the CMA's top honor, Entertainer of the Year--is nowhere near ready for so much success.

The country legend, one-half of famed mother-daughter duo the Judds, spoke to USA Today before the awards show, commenting in regards to Swift's extraordinary sweep of 2009: "You want my honest comment? It’s too much too soon."

"Mom [Naomi Judd] and I rode in a car for the first year of our career to visit radio stations," Judd continued. "There was a making of the star, there was a rising up, and the fans went with us.
"Now it’s over coffee breaks, the success, almost. It's like the girl who wins an Oscar and she's under 20. What do you do from here?"

I hear ya, OP...why the heck can't they just be happy for each other and move on?!

I saw on interview about a month or so ago with Kelly Clarkson (she was on the View). They asked her about the Kanye incident, b/c she made some comments as well about how classless that was of him to ruin Taylor's moment.

I thought she made an excellent point; they're award shows!! It's supposed to be a fun thing for people to get together and recognize who has done well that year. She even made a comment about how they're not curing cancer, they're making music. :goodvibes I just thought it was a good way to put it--good perspective. If you want to see the interview on YouTube, here it is:

To me there is no comparsion to what Kayne and Wynonna did. Wynonna stated her opinion in the right formant Kayne didn't go about stating his opinion in the right way.

Well, respectfully, I agree there were other entertainers more deserving of the award - but it's not something one of the presenters should have said on-air.

I guess I never felt the need to tear some one down to state an opinion. Sort of the old "if you haven't got some thing nice to say, shut up"

DWGal nailed it. Their not curing cancer and how would Wynnona have felt after her first award if some one said, you know they really didn't deserve to win because....

How about a simple "she's a talented girl, I wish her luck"
I mean some one must have thought she should win, she got the votes.

Your right though, she has a right to her opinion but I would think in an image concious business like show business, I would try hard not to come across as a jealous 'has been"

Jeez,

Because there is always going to be a certain segment of the population that thinks they are bigger, better, smarter, have the only opinions that truly count, and will do everything and anything to enhance their "self-importance" - including the whiney comment about riding around in a car with her mom before they "made it"..

I have always liked Wyonna's voice, but I have never liked her attitude.. Her statement "screams" sour grapes..:sad2:

This isn't really that unusual. Remember a year or two ago when Carrie Underwood was winning all kinds of awards, and for one, she was up against Faith Hill, and when Carrie was announced as the winner, Faith made a horrible face and gesture? And then Leann Rimes came out on her blog (in an attempt to defend/support Faith) saying that Carrie hadn't "paid her dues" and didn't deserve to win yet? (Yeah, and what's Leann up to now? Lifetime movies and wrecking homes ... :rolleyes1 )

It's all jealousy, pure and simple. The path Naomi and Wynonna took to stardom 30 years ago just doesn't exist anymore. No one drives around from radio station to radio station ... that just wouldn't happen today. We live in the age of "American Idol" and YouTube. Instant fame, you know?

I love Wynonna, but in this case, I think it's a case of if you don't have anything positive to say, it's best to keep your mouth shut.

I don't see her like that at all she has nothing to be "jealous" of

My only opinion is - man does Wynnona look terrible. Who in the heck does her make-up?

For Wy it is kinda a sour grapes thing. For Kanye it is a whole different ballpark, he is just a jerk-imho

I feel sorry for Taylor I would think that the Wy thing would hurt a little more.

Kae

Did she say this on-air or was this a statement made outside of the show?

IMHO--if you have a problem with the result, the awards show itself is not the appropriate venue for that. It just makes you appear like an 8yo upset b/c someone got a barbie for their birthday and you didn't.

In that regard, if Wy said it on air, she is no different from Kanye.

I agree. Wynonna Judd is jealous because her day has come and gone.

Taylor is young, talented, pretty, the darling of country music. She might not be the BEST vocalist (although I love her songs!) but she writes music that MANY people enjoy (hence the Entertainer of the Year win last night) You might not agree- but majority rules.......

It was ignorant for Wynonna to comment in a negative way...... Taylor is country musics "it" girl right now....... the 80's are long gone Wynonna.

My DH commented that she gives him the creeps every time he sees her.

Exactly! Taylor didn't win "Best Entertainer of All Time", she won Best of 2009. Which, apparently, many felt she was. Next year will have its own Best Entertainer.

And as the mother to teenagers, Wynonna should be doubly ashamed of herself for being catty to one.

And $100 bucks says it WON'T be Wynonna Judd......... that's WHY she's jealous.
