Don't give up...my MIL was told she could never have kids (back in the early 70's they couldn't do much for infertility, and if there were treatments, MIL was poor), 7 years later she gave birth to my now DH. The Doc had to repeat himself 4 times when he told her she was pregnant, because she wouldn't beleive him!
Even if it turns out you can't have kids of your own and you adopt, by adopting you are making sure at least one child doesn't suffer the fate of those we see on the news. Try and keep that in mind.

I try to tell myself that things happen for a reason and I may never know what that reason is. Sometimes it helps and other times it doesn't...
