Why are some people against the bands?

I don't wear jewelry or watches or anything and I know I'd be bothered by that on my wrist for a whole week. But I can also take it off and put it where I would keep my KTTW card so I'm not going to gripe about it. I can see them being nice at the resort tho, for swimming and what not, not having to worry about keeping your card somewhere.

I don't like wearing a watch, it's just not comfortable on my wrist. Plus a band will make a tan line.

Personally, I love bands of many types! As a child of the 90's, I had quite an affinity for boy bands. I am currently really into folk-rock bands like Mumford & Sons. And one of my favorite bands will always be the Beatles :goodvibes :rockband:

(Sorry, OP, I couldn't resist...;))

Just curious.
~Do you mean to ask, why some people "here" -- because that's not even worth asking. It's just the same 20 people or so, complaining on here, every single day. I think the majority of the 20 million other guests who frequent Disney will like the bracelets!

Let's make that 21, then shall we? And so nice of you to consider that none of us are worthy of any consideration. Some people find anything on their wrists an annoyance. They leave tan lines, they can catch on things, after a while they get sweaty and sticky- just not something that they want to wear.

But from what I've read so far (and very little seems to be known for sure), guests can opt for a plastic card (a la KTTW card) or a RFID enabled ticket instead. So.....bands??? We don't need no stinkin' bands.....

I equate these with the Livestrong rubber bracelets and their many many cousins that have cropped up. I tried to wear one once and I had to take it off in less than an hour. I couldn't stand the feeling of something on my wrist and in the hot sun, I'm sure it will be sweaty, potentially even chafe. I don't even like long sleeve shirts so I can't see wearing these bracelets and being comfortable.

You can take these off, right? Maybe just wear it to zonk yourself into the park then take it off and put it somewhere safe? I guess I'll be finding out come August...

Yes.

What, you don't  them? ;)

I can't stand wearing jewelry. I had a job where I had to wear a watch and that puppy lived in my work locker. It grates on my nerves and I just want it OFF. Plus it's hot and sticky and... ew?

I have other concerns, too, and can't help but get REM's "End of the World" stuck in my head as I think about them, ha ha.

I am also against the attitude that those who don't like the bands must be idiots who don't know what's good for them... (And by this I don't mean the OP's question.)

~Omg... will you please stop! If all of my posts offend you, don't read them. Simple, huh? I wasn't insulting anyone, I was putting things into perspective. This is a tiny group of people that may not accurately reflect how the majority of millions of park goers may feel about the wristbands -- places like Great Wolf Lodge have been utilizing this technology for years and people seem to adapt just fine. Thank you!

I think I'm gonna leave this thread--I fear inhaling too much second-hand pixie dust.

The reason I am against them - I don't like bracelets or other items on my wrist except for my watch which I have gotten used to after about 50 years of wearing one.
Also, my wrists tend to swell with the plastic bands that they give you for hard ticket events so eventually they end up being terribly uncomfortable and annoying.

Some don't like to wear them on their wrists. Others don't like the systems they are inexorably linked with--FP+ is one example, perceived privacy issues is another.

Yeah, MB sums it up for me.

Add me to the group of being sick of being called a "whiner, paranoid, ignorant on how RFID technology works, scared of change, etc, etc".

I don't have any problems with the bands, or wearing them = I am more against how they may change the fast pass system. If Disney goes to only the Fast pass + system which only allows 3 fast passes a day, it will change how our family vacations at Disney. So much so that we may not want to vacation at Disney like we do now. Just thinking of that makes me sad, but if my boys can't ride Space Mountain multiple times per day (without waiting in the hour+ standby line), they will not want to visit Disney anymore.
