Why Are People Such Slobs?

I am another person who is surprised by the slobs at movie theaters. How hard is it to carry your popcorn and drink containers to the trash on your way out? I have always made sure my kids have thrown away their own trash.

I waited tables for years.....I used to pay the hostesses MORE than their standard tip out to keep the families with kids out of section, especially with high chairs. And don't even get me started on all you can eat rib night when at 2 am I am picking all the chewed up rib bones off the floor.

I believe it's the entitlement thing combined with the lack of any semblance of responsibility.:confused3

I'm always amazed when I go for a walk and see the trash on the side of the road. You couldn't wait till you got home to throw out that Burger King Bag? WTH! I understand if a bag blows out of your window or something but to just chuck it out your window.:confused3

I think I'm equally bothered by kids eating right off the table. :crazy2: We use a highchair cover and table topper when we eat at a restaurant. People roll their eyes at us all the time. We had lunch out today and right across from us was an eye rolling mom who let her son eat his hot dog off the counter. Yum!

I have to chime in that, while I certainly agree about tidying up after yourself (and I always do,) I'm surprised about the putting the parmesan back.

I've always left it on the table, assuming they will want to wipe it off or something before putting it back. From my observations of other tables, that's what many others do too. If it were fast food where you bus your own table I'd put it back when I throw all my own trash etc. away. At salad bars or pizza places where you don't bus your own, I just tidy it and leave it.

People look at us strangely as we clean up our tables, floor under children in restaurants, etc. If we make a mess, we clean a mess.

My children have commented on the digusting behaviour of others in public many times, and we always make sure they know that we appreciate how courteous they are to others. We've been thanked many times by restaurant staff as well.

Not sure what can be done...it makes me wonder what their houses look like?

I actually had a couple who, for the most part, cleaned up after their small child. I was sweeping the floor elsewhere in the dining room and they borrowed the broom and dustpan and got up their mess. :worship:

I am in high school and once my friend went in the bathroom, then quickly walked out. I asked her why she left. She said someone smeared poop on the wall :eek::headache:

We quickly called the janitor. I felt so bad that he had to clean up after someone else did something gross.

:Puke:

And when women who have their time of the month who make a big mess and leave it all over the commode. I actually lifted the seat and balanced on the bowl to use it. :headache:

Their houses are probably spotless because like someone else said they do it because they don't have to pick it up. They are scumbags (and I really hate that word but its fitting for these type of people).
