Why are people so disgusting??

So we went to a concert last night (which, BTW, rocked!!). Cheap Trick, Poison and Def Leppard, and for their age and the amount of partying they did/do they sounded spot on!

Anyhooo..We got there about an hour and a half before show time and had to use the potties...the porta potties. Suffice to saw, I nearly vomited when I went in there. Really folks, is it that hard to get the urine IN the toilet?? The regular bathrooms weren't any better.

Towards the end of the show, my jacket and purse had been doused with a spilled beer from the row behind us, the guy next to me threw his gum on the floor (which I stepped on and gunked up my new shoes), empty beer bottles and cans littered the parking lot.

STaggeringly drunk people literally stumbling there way out of the amphitheatre puking in bushes and on the sidewalk.

There was a lot of "personalities" in that crowd, for sure, most of which actually made our night much more enjoyable! I LOVE people watching in situations like this...but honestly I am tired of people just tossing their stuff on the ground, being gross with their trash and cigarette butts, and a general lack of respect for others.

We have another concert soon (Aerosmith and ZZ Top!!) and I'm sure that one will be awesome too, but at least I am prepared for the nasty things we'll see.

Was that the roadie with Poison who came out on stage with the video camera? They said they were taping the concerts to put on their website for the troops.

I was there, too! Yeah, there are a lot of nasty people that go to these shows. There are some funny things that go on, too. On one trip to the bathroom, there were two drunk girls stuck in the stall next to me. They kept banging on the door saying they couldn't get out. Someone told them to unlock the door and (surprise) it magically opened.

Cheap Trick and Def Leppard never disappoint! That was the first time I had seen Poison since 1990 and they were great, too!

Awww, that's too bad. I suspect the problem is some of us who partied to this stuff when we were younger didn't realize we can't hold ourselves the way we did back when. Ahh, its always tragic when reality and romantic memories crash, sort of like Brett Michaels on Rock of Love... at least you were a bystander who could point an laugh and won't end up on you-tube.

I just don't understand the point of getting trashed at a concert. I am there for the music and want to remember ALL of it.

I am catching the tour out here in a few weeks in both Irvine and San Bernardino. The prices for the lawn seats are ridiculously cheap so I can just imagine that will bring out people who are less interested in the bands and more interested in just hanging around and drinking.

It has been YEARS since Def Leppard has toured as a true headliner. They have either co-headlined or been part of a package tour. I miss the longer sets so they can play the slightly more obscure stuff. Once they play the hits they are out of time! I would much rather hear something off of "Slang" than hear "Armageddon It" yet again.

Those sorts of things have been happening since I went to my first concert (which was Poison, btw .) We're just getting older.

Today is the final day of Lollapalooza. There are probably a hundred port-a-potties that back on to Lake Shore Drive. I have taken the drive every day for a week and the past three days I have seen men standing BEHIND the port-a-potties (within full view of the thousands of cars on LSD) whizzing on the back of them. That is seriously disgusting.

My DD16 is in NC right now visiting her friend and she was at that concert too. She said there were a ton of gross people and that some guy threw up right next to her...

I went to No Doubt a few months ago and was surprised at some of the behavior of the older people there (i.e., upper 30s and 40s). Honestly, most of the women there looked and acted like a bunch of drunk bimbos. They were out-of-shape has beens trying to look and act like they were 18. REALLY embarrassing.

I had a group of 5 women in front of me looking to be ranging from 25-35. The were buzzed. One chick in the group was just really vulgar. Every time she walked by her friends to go get another beer, she made a very "unfamily-friendly" like gesture to/on a few of the other girls in her group. It was just BIZARRE.

Of course, this got the 30-something guys behind me going and then the two groups started going back and forth at it with the girl saying some really interesting things to those guys. My 14 y/o son and his friend talked about it for days. My daughter, who is 18, just thought they were disgusting.

Edited to add: I've been going to concerts since I was about 15 years old. Regularly. All the time. I think behavior has gotten worse. I'm ashamed to say that the worst offenders seem to come from my own age group.

Well, we did get two songs from Pyromania that we haven't heard in awhile: "Rock! Rock! 'Til You Drop" and "Too Late For Love". As for me, I would much rather hear stuff from "On Through the Night" and "High 'N Dry" than everything from "Hysteria". The reason they play all the "Hysteria" stuff is because that's all the "casual" fan knows.

DH and I took DS14 to this same concert in Milwaukee last month, and I have to say that it was actually the *least* drunk obnoxious crowd I've seen at a concert in a number of years. The only bad part was the crazed women at the tshirt booth pushing and shoving to get an overpriced shirt. DS loved it and is looking forward to getting cheap grass seats and bringing all his friends in the years to come. Our seats were too expensive for me to get too drunk to remember the concert.

I've been to concerts where people don't want to leave the show to use the bathroom and will just pee themselves. That is disgusting in itself but when you factor in standing in urine, in the middle of summer, it's just downright horrid. I love going shows but dang, I prefer not to deal with that.

The concert business is in dire straits. There are many reasons, but one is the conditions that one must endure to see some of your favorite acts. For people who can afford high prices(mostly 30 and above) they are going to have to provide an atmosphere that people can enjoy. This doesn't preclude having some drinks before/during the show, but it doesn't mean that people will continue to pay exorbitant prices so they can deal with jerks in the parking lot, in their seating area, and on the way out.

At some point, you'll decide that you aren't going to a show because some doofus is going to spill his drink in your purse, talk on his cell through the entire show(if it's AC/DC he'll talk loud enough so you can hear him better than the band), and you can spend a couple hundred bucks doing something more fun and still buy the live DVD for 16.99 in a few months.

Glad you still found some enjoyment in the show.

I haven't been to a concert in years, but I have even noticed that at regular things people are getting more and more disgusting. We went to the fireworks and had a group of late middle aged people that were drunk and almost having sex on the beach. I mean can you get more family oriented than the fireworks? Drunk and having sex in public is unpleasant at any age, but when its people my age, it makes it that much worse. Come on, you could be someones grandparent.

I will say, there may be pictures of my DH on youtube out there from the No Doubt concert a few weeks ago. He took DD and a friend. They had lawn seats and DH was so tired that he fell asleep. No drinking other than a mountain dew, just a 54 year old man who had been up working since 4am! DD said people kept coming up taking pictures of him sound asleep curled up on a blanket!

It all depends on who you want to see. I know that Billy Joel and Elton John were commanding some pretty hefty ticket prices but then you can still get to see some great acts for $50 or less, which I still think is affordable. $150/ticket is not.

As for the dvd of the show, you aren't buying them from ebay or craigslist are you?
