Why are my fast passes being canceled before Halloween Party?

We are planning on doing MNSSHP on Oct 1st so we aren't using park tickets for that day. Planning on heading to MK at 4pm since I've heard you can get in at that time on party day. I booked 3 FP's for 4pm-7pm and I've gotten 2 notifications now that there are schedule/operation changes. For some reason it keeps canceling and not allowing any Fast Passes for 5:45-6:45pm. Park doesn't close until 7 so I'm not sure why I can't have a FP for that time frame. Any thoughts?

There's a couple of more threads here stating that Disney is cancelling all MK FPs with a window that closes after 6:30 on party nights. As to why they thought it would be a good idea, don't know that.

they usually cancel FPs after 4pm on a party night to get all the non party goers out of the park...they say 6.30pm but its usually 4pm.

Yeah this was not the case last year for us, last year we had FP's at 4-5, 5-6 and 6-7 before MNSSHP . . . . watching this closely before we book in two weeks. Will likely end our FP's by 6 just in case.

I've had no problems with FP window ending at 6:30.

As has been said, this isn't true. It does look like they're closing anything with an end time after 6:30, but they do not "usually" cancel FPs after 4pm on Party Nights.

This is perhaps the most untrue statement I've ever read in the history of the DIS. Where did you come up with this???
NO need to be rude and ignorant..I picked up off another thread believe it or not HERE on the Disboards....who would have thought it to be false eh...

I had our FP for HM canceled from the 5:55-6:55 time slot. I've been following this thread and people have been given many reasons, but consistently any FP going past 6:30 on a party night has been getting canceled.
I ended up taking an early one that goes past 4 and hoping we can make it. I do not recommend booking anything critical past 6:30 or that you might miss too closely after 4.

Wait so they are canceling the party people FPs too? Maybe I missed that on the other threads. What a mess.

Same thing happened to me. I had a Buzz 6-7 that was cancelled. So I just I called on Friday and they gave me an anytime FP for Buzz.

I have now had 2 fastpass experiences cancelled. At first I had Space Mountain at 630-730 on Sept 20 (which is a party night)- I have party tickets and an annual pass. I received an email changing my Space Mountain to Tomorrowland Speedway at an earlier time. I didnt want this so I arranged Space Mountain at 230-330, already had SDMT for 340-440 and reserved Haunted Mansion from 5-6. I logged on tonight and my Haunted Mansion is just GONE. No replacement, no new time, just GONE. I emailed Disney but who should I call? I want my fastpasses back!

We have party tickets only and I was not given an option to book any later than 6:30. I basically had to "throw away" one of my three by putting it in the morning.

I think that's why it's better to answer a question when you have actual experience with the situation and not just pass on hearsay, which seems to happen a lot around here lately.

As other PP's have mentioned, this was definitely not the case last year. I'm wondering if this is going to back fire though. Won't this just make the standby lines from 6 pm on longer? There are a lot of non-party goers who are still going to want to stay until the park closes at 7 pm. Or do you think this is to dissuade party-goers from getting FP+?

IMHO I think they are trying to fix the mess they had last year after the 7DMT opened. They went about it completely the wrong way, no one should have been able to book those FP time slots in the first place. It sucks, but I understand what they are attempting to do. Really, they should have cut it off at 6pm. On crowded days, that 30 minutes isn't going to make that big of a dent.

I think its more to dissuade guests from getting in an hour plus long line at 6pm. The CM's try to herd non-ticketed party goers out around 6:30. They get aggressive about it starting about 6:45.

However, with no FP+ line being let on at a ratio of 10:1 or 15:1 or whatever it is, that standby line will go a lot faster.

Here's the problem. Disney keeps canceling people's FP+ reservations for after 6:30 on party nights and then allowing those cancelled FP+ reservations to show as available in the system, so people continue to book and re-book them.
