Why are Disney Auction sellers ratings private?

I for one skip over any auction who's ratings are private, it tells me right away that they have something to hide. Also in the case of Disney comments must not of been too favorable because of the inflated prices of the item and high shipping costs.

Hmm... Never noticed that one before myself.. Thanks for bringing it up.

One odd thing I've noticed several times in the past...

Sometimes Disney offers items for sale that can also be found from private dealers at the same time. The Disney item ALWAYS gets a much higher ending bid! Do people like giving money to Disney for something they could get cheaper from a private dealer with high feedback?

I have seen some people with very low ratings, but when you look at their feedback profile it shows a very high numer of positives but very few unique sourcees. Further examination shows they seem to do almost all their buying from Disney.

Lasty year at Disneyana they had several people there from Disney Auctioneers to push their service. JduySue and I are hoping that they also have people there this year and we will tell them exactly what we think of their policies. They are not very nice, and if their feedback was not private I think we would see a very high percentage of both neutrals and negatives. One opinion often voiced is most of the people who work for Disney are very nice, but the company is terrible.

I recently won a pin from Disney auctions, and was so excited to receive it. It's my 1st LE 100. So I get the pin in the mail, open the box, unwrap the pin... and it has a horrible flaw, right in the middle of the character's face. Nothing that can be fixed without redoing the face completely. After closer inspection, I also noticed a few "pockmarks" in the character's clothing. I wonder how many others out there have had similiar experiences?
I called them soon after, and was told that the problem would be passed along to a Manager and reviewed. I also asked if this had happened before and what the procedure was for it. I was told that "each auction is different and would be handled accordingly". I have no idea what they plan to do about this, but I feel very dissappointed with my purchase. If I am spending $40-$50 for a pin, I want quality for sure.
I just though I'd share my experience... and my 2 cents. I hope this works out, eventually. I really wanted this pin. And if they had had a public feedback listing, at least I could have been aware of this problem. I can't see how when you are only making 100 of these pins, you can still mess them up so badly and not notice it. Especially if you know about how much they will be selling for. :( I think now I know why their feedback rating might be private.
Sad in CA,

That is a shame! Here you pay top dollar, expect the best quality and service and receive just the opposite!

I read this topic this morning and then noticed one of my Ebay bids (that didn't meet a reserve anyway) was against a Private seller rating. Also interesting that one of my webbie friends let me know they have a complaint filed with their cc company against this seller for a non-rec'd shipment.
As Swamp_Fox wrote, my lesson is No More Bids for me against those with Private ratings.

Disney has had their feedback private since inception.

This isn't to avoid a "true feedback", this is because of what happened to Rosie O'Donnel and her "All For Kids" auctions.

Many people just bid to write really nasty comments to Rosie, personal, vulgar, and obnoxious. People would register new id's just to write something nasty. It was like a sport. Since there are many people who wold just love to have a forum to bash Disney, the fb is kept private to discourage this.

The point behind feedback is to get a warm cozy feeling that this seller will actually deliver the product. I don't think many people think Disney will intentionally defraud them. They screw up, they overcharge for shipping, etc, but they aren't going to fold up their tent and disappear.
