Early summer dates questions

How important is it to avoid the end of MK holders’ available dates before they’re blocked for summer? I see Imagine MK’s last day before the summer block out is May 28, and Enchant’s is June 4. Are we better off waiting until June 5 or later to avoid all their last visits before their summer block outs? I saw the reports of early December crowds due to the same issue.

What days of the week are generally best avoided in early summer? Are Mondays still terrible? We’re doing 4 day PHs and are pretty flexible with days. And I know we need to consider grad nites, too.

Thanks!

They replaced Enchant with Explore. Those that currently have Enchant can keep it or upgrade, but they can't renew for another year. That means, as the year goes on, fewer and fewer people will have that MK. I would pay attention to the last days of Imagine MK and not worry as much about Enchant.

I knew I had seen something about that, but we’ll never be in the market for MKs, so I promptly forgot. Thank you for clarifying! That’s very helpful.

Traditionally Saturdays in the summer are pretty 'light' due to the blackouts on the MKs but it will be interesting to see what plays out this year. I think Believe Keys have picked up some summer dates and is now up there with Inspire as having most of the summery open. And of course the new Explore Key is only blocked out Friday and Saturdays in the summer. So yeah, kind of up in the air as to what crowds to expect.

We are probably going to try to at least hit Friday and Saturday on our 4 day trip this summer with the thought that with the most blackouts being on those days it could be the best bet?

Open to suggestions / thoughts myself here. :)

Yes, weekends will be best with what blockouts are remaining. Also, look at single day ticket prices. The higher those are during the summer, the lower the crowds. This tends to coincide with more MK blockouts.

I have a question about this. The first week of June is inexplicably $104 for single tickets Mon- Thurs. So that would be best avoided? I always assumed lower prices for those meant lower crowds in general.

I’m sort of wondering if Disney has maybe just mastered the art of making it the same level of crowded all the time with some increases for Halloween/Christmas/Spring Break?

I would personally avoid the 104 days. There's also a kids ticket deal for the summer, so those 104 adult days will be very popular.

It might surprise you, but the data for the past couple of years clearly shows the lower price days are more crowded. People pull kids out of school if they have to.

I avoid the lowest price days without MK blockouts. That's my number one rule for choosing dates to visit.

Thank you! It does surprise me, but also makes total sense. I guess I just don’t expect people to go for a single day as much as they do, but of course a lot of those people are likely SoCal locals.

Am I getting you mixed up with someone else? Didn't you say you used to live down here?

Approximately 15 million people live within an hour of Disneyland. It is very easy to visit the parks for a day and then go home. No hotel needed. No reason to go for multiple days in a row.

Yep, used to be local. That’s what I meant in my post - I forget about all the single day ticket locals. I almost never got a single day ticket even as a local. CM friends signed us in and then we had APs.
