Why are crowds larger at EMH evening hours than EMH mornings?

I'm not completely sure about having to be there before the park closes to the public, that's just what she told us.

We were there the first week of January, so I'm not sure if it's going to be changing, but we got to MK AFTER it closed to the non-resort guests. We just had to show our resorts keys at the gate.

Another reason why evening EMH could be more crowded than morning is that there aren't as many rides open for the morning EMH.

We didn't think it was crowded for the EMH nights, but it was the first week of January. People may not have planned for it if they weren't aware of it.

We were just there from Jan. 16th to Jan. 20th and loved the late nights. They were not crowded at all.
Same here. In two EMH nights at MGM rode RnRC 14 times and ToT 10! :rotfl2:

A few more weeks and we will have a true test of the EMH and LMH. Make sure all you spring break folks provide us summer folks details on park crowds for the special hours.

We asked a CM the last time we were there and she says that only people with the wristbands are allowed in the park and they do check them before every ride. She said there are also people walking around the park to make sure that people with wristbands are the only one's in the park. If you are already in the park you have to go to certain locations to get a wristband and if you come in to the park you have to be there before the park closes to the public and you get your wristband at the gate (we had to show our room passes as well as our tickets) Almost everything remains open, a lot of the popular rides, stores, and some restaraunts. If you have PS at a place and don't have your wristband you can get it when you get out. I love EMH at night. I have never gotten up early to go to a park! If MK closes at 9 to the public then it's open until 12 for resort guests, as an example.

A lot of the above doesn't match up with my experience last Wed evening at MK. First, remember, the park closed at 7, and that's when Wishes started. So clearly they do not clear non-wristband folks out of the park at 7. Once Wishes ends, it takes a while for everyone to clear out anyway, and the shops on Main St are, of course, open. Also, its real hard for me to believe that CMs are walking around checking on wristbands, especially if its cool and most folks have long sleeves on.

Finally, as has been stated elsewhere, you do not have to be at the park before it closes to the public. Just show up, have ticket and resort ID, pick up a bracelet, and enjoy.

We have stayed on site twice in the last few years and never have been to the am EMH. We have enjoyed E ride night in the past and look forward to the evening EMH on our upcoming trip. My family does not like to get up really early on vacation. Getting to the park by 9:00 feels early enough.
Also, the morning EMH is only 1 hour so your up very early for a short benefit.

O.K., somebody help me out.

I've been reading about EMH nights being available to WDW resort guests, and I have a couple of questions regarding my upcoming visit:

1) How do they work? Will they close a particular park early on a certain day, or do they just tack on the extra 3 hours after regular closing?

2) We will be there in October. Is this a temporary trial thing, or do they plan to do this long term?

3) My understanding is during EMH, only WDW resort guests can ride the rides, but anyone else can stay and do other things (which I guess means shops, restaurants, etc.). Is this correct?

Your help is greatly appreciated. We always stay off-site (we have connections to a free vacation home) and want to know how I should plan for our October trip. Thanks!

Ditto! I am new with this EMH evening. Thanks for you help!

My family just got back tonight. We did NO mornings, when we normally would have, and we did all four evening hours.

MK was empty. It was raining a bit that night, which probably drove people home. MGM wasn't as empty as I'd hoped. I found Edcot and AK disappointing, with just not enough stuff open.

I'm still pretty bummed about the evening hours. We are early risers and like the quiet of the morning. I like that the parks close early in off-season, I can never leave before closing. Never.

We are going to WDW in early June. We'll be staying at Shades of Green. Will we qualify to do the EMH (before and after "normal" hours)?

I'm one of those that usually tried my darndest to make all EMH mornings... and now I won't bother and just go to the EMH evenings.
I have also read that you don't have to be there before closing (like if you're park hopping and hopping over to the park that's open for EMH evenings -you can get in even if you get there after the "close" time).

I've also read others saying they weren't checked for wristbands and I wonder if that is what's contributing to the "large" turn out for this as opposed to the E-nights where everyone really WAS sent out if they didn't have a wristband on.
??hmmm.....

I also figure they aren't really going around sending people out who doesn't have wristbands- and if they ARE really checking for rides (IF they are consistent on that)-that's still only cutting down on ride lines... it could still look really packed with people in the park just not riding rides since they don't have the wristbands. Which means still crowded looking/feeling around the park, people still eating even though not staying at the resorts? stores still crowded? Maybe even more so- since they can't ride rides they'll just be eating and shopping. I guess make sure you ONLY want to ride rides during the EMH evenings?

Did you also tour the parks duiring regular hours on the day that they had the EMH (late) scheduled? If so how were the crowds? I know it won't compare to the June crowds but any information is better then no information.

Epcot, AK and MGM before 7:00 p.m., but not Magic Kingdom. When we went to MK, there were throngs leaving. We usually do MK in the earlier part of the day, because I think it always seems crowded in the afternoon, even during slow season.

In our experience, most CMS were pretty thorough at asking for wristbands.

Thanks for the information. I think we will avoid the EMH (late) parks duiring the day and will "hop" over later in the day to stay and then enjoy the EMH. Oh well, Disney got me again, it looks like I have to pay for hopper to be added on our tickets as an option. Our two 10 day no expiration with tax and delivery have now gone from $311 each to $345. Maybe I should stop thinking this out because every time I do I add on more money to this trip!

Still a good deal... ;)

I am looking forward to a less crowded MK EMH in the morning. The only park I really want to do the Evening EMH is MGM, and they are having it twice during our 5 night trip--March 18 and March 20. I thought it was strange they were having it twice, but maybe it will be less crowded that way.

I'm afraid that it will be way more crowded on EMH nights during summer months. I am an early riser (can't sleep late at WDW...too excited)so I will probably want to be at morning EMH. I might try to at least do MK late night if I can stay up that late. If they close at 10 or 11 like last June, I doubt I would be able to make it.

;)

HI TRYING OUT EMH LATE NIGHT AT MGM, WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD 2ND DAY AT THIS PARK, :confused3

THANK YOU :flower: :wave2:
