1st, we had the Princess themed character meals. Ok, ok, they had a villains meal a few years ago, but that scared the beezus out of the little ones. Then, we have the enchanted phone calls, where a princess can call. Yes, Mickey can too, but that is it. And the one that really irked me, is this past summer, "Princess for a day" at MK.

OK, I have a DD, and she gets stars in her eyes over anything Princess, and that is fine, but I also have 2 BOYS, and I feel really bad for them, that everything seems to be for girls.

When is Disney going to realize, that BOYS go gaa-gaa over the characters also? That there maybe a little boy wanting to be a "Prince" for a day. :confused3

I know the petition was going around for boy character meals. Not sure how well it worked. I think Disney was going to pilot a meal with the boy characters. Any update on how that is going?

What else needs to be done to let Disney know that Princesses alone do not sell the place?

My boys, 17, 20 and 24 really enjoyed the princess breakfast. :rotfl2:

On a serious note, boys have become second class citizens in and out of Disney. Christina Hoff Somers' book, THE WAR AGAINST BOYS, should be required reading for the parents of all boys.

I am right there with you. My DS7 would love a character meal aimed at boys. It would be nice for a Toy Story meal...but at least they now have Lilo & Stitch & he likes them.

I hear ya.....I wonder why they could not do a non-scary male oriented breakfast....when you think about it, they could have Alladin, Prince Charming, Peter Pan, Mickey, Goofy, and many more. Maybe a letter to Disney requesting this type of character breakfast might be the way to start them thinking about it.

Dawn, you made me LOL....I am sure your boys loooooooooooved the Princess breakfast. teehee

I totally agree, but I have to admit that my son - he's 4 - loves the princesses too. He gets just as excited as his big sister, and his favorite is Jasmine. I sometimes think he has more fun at the Princess Breakfast than his older sister does.

We went on a Disney Cruise in October. During the CRT breakfast in the parks, he had dressed as Prince Philip. Aurora went nuts over him - it was really cute. So, on the cruise, he was instantly drawn towards her. He kept going back over to her when we were getting pictures and autographs. During a slow moment, she knelt down and called him back and gave him the biggest hug and then planted a HUGE kiss on his cheek. He made me take of picture of the lipstick prints on his face and then proceeded to tell anyone who would listen where he got the "kiss mark" from. We had some BIG tears that night when it came time to take a bath!

I have a 9 year old DD who feels the same way!! Everything is Princess and she's not a fan, according to her she's not a "girly girl". The only Princesses she likes are Mulan and her all time favorite Megara who's all but disappeared at Disney. I also have a DS(5) who whould love a "boy themed" character meal.

Disney has really gone into "girly girl" Princess overload and it's a a shame they've excluded boys and a whole section of girls that simply aren't Princess crazy.

DS9 has always wished for a more "boys" themed meal. Sure, Chef Mickey, LTT, etc. are fine for boys ... but he says he would like to have a meal w/Stitch, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Jafar, Hook, Darth Vadar, Luke Skywalker (from Star Wars Weekends), etc. There is NO excuse for Disney not having this type of meal.

When we were at WDW for Mother's Day, they had a "boys" brunch at EPCOT w/Peter Pan, Capt. Hook, etc. Unfortunately, we couldn't get tickets for it as it was sold out. What does that tell you -- the 2 brunches aimed at boys and both were sold out. Hello -- get the clue!??!?!!

Anyway, we'll continue to do Chef Mickey, LTT, etc. until they develop a more boyish meal or until DS can "appreciate" the princesses more!

They weren't "shy" about posing for pictures. I don't think too many little girls describe Snow White as "hot". ;)

My boys love the attention they get at the princess meals as well. I do agree with the OP though. I know years ago they had a breakfast at MGM with Hunchback, Alladin, Jasmine. I wonder if it didn't do well and that is why they stopped having them? Actually...as I am typing this, I am remembering Aladdin and Peter Pan at CRT a few times.

I'm with you guys on this one. My boys are 11 and 8. We are leaving in a few weeks and they expressed no interest in seeing anyone other than Pluto and Buzz. They need more stuff for boys!!

I know this is still (Girlly )but I heard the NEW Fairies are going to be at 1900 Park Fair some time soon replacing Mary P.

Why don't they use Buzz and Peter Pan? Then have another 4 princes or sumthing?

My DS is only 2 1/2, so it's not that big of an issue for HIM yet...but it is for me and my DH! We'd LOVE to see something NOT princess! I know the princess stuff sells...but it's really a bit much!! They started the whole "adventurer" toy line...they could do SO much more with that in the parks! And I really do think it would be successful! I know DS will be happy in December dining with Pooh & the gang and Mickey and the gang, but I know Pooh will only be "cool" for so long with him. He already adores Buzz!

The Disney stores are no better. I happen to the proud mother of two boys ages 10 & almost 12. There is no reason for me to set foot in the Disney Stores. They have nothing for my boys or for me.

Reminds me of a trip to WDW we made back in '94. In EPCOT, across from the American Adventure, there's a big theatre, which had a Barbie Live show. Our little girl just HAD to go. I begrudgingly went along. The show started and out came DOZENS of "Barbie's" in various outfits. I told my wife "Disney's got a little something for everyone" ;) ...including dad.

I really wish they would do a boys character breakfast too. At the WOD store in Manhattan they have a Princess event, but nothng for boys. My son would LOVE to attend something geared for boys there. Maybe a treasure hunt with Peter Pan or something. It's so disappointing :(

While I agree that the boys need something for them in Disney, I don't think that using the 'prince' characters is something that they'd be all that interested in (some of them are even more girly than the girls!).

I think they could do a Pixar breakfast - because Pixars characters are quite suited to both boys and girls - and maybe something with Peter Pan, Robin Hood, Merlin etc (hah - it could be a proper English/British breakfast!).

When DS 26 was 8, he was "King for a Few Moments" in Disneyland. They made a big production of being able to pull the sword out of the stone. I think that capitalizing on that theme, in addition to the villains, would be a good direction for Disney to move in.
