Why are Anaheim hotels so expensive January 21st - 24th?

Hi Everyone,

We are looking at booking a few nights in Anaheim from January 21-st - 24th. Just wondering if there are any events occurring during this time, as the hotels are quite expensive?

We aren't familiar with American school holidays or public holidays, so apologies in advance if this is an obvious one.

These are our possible dates to show the large price difference. We thought the weekend would be alot more expensive than the weekday:

Hotel Indigo January 21st - 24th (Sunday - Tuesday) $1189
Hotel Indigo February 16th - 19th (Friday - Monday) $751

Other hotels seem to have the same rates for both of those sets of dates. Have you contacted that hotel and asked if there's an event that's driving up the rate for one of those nights? Maybe the difference is that the February dates include a Saturday stay and the January dates don't. You could ask the hotel if they require a Saturday stay for the lower rate.

NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Convention is Jan. 25-28. I suppose NAMM attendance can be affecting hotel rates for your January dates, at least for the end of your stay. That February weekend is a holiday weekend with Presidents' Day so may be a busy time at the parks.

Look at booking.com for some good rates, but you might also want to look around at other nearby cities. Santa Ana is pretty affordable with those dates, along with Buena Park (but that is a bit of a drive). Best to book now because Jan 21 is also AFC/NFC Championship weekend and theres a(very slight) potential that our NFL team may (very slightly) be in the championships which can also drive prices up as well.
