Okay, so a couple of weeks ago I came down with strep. I was down for like four days but I got some antibiotics from the doc and got all better. Of course I know you don't stop taking antibiotics once you feel better so that's why I took them for the whole ten days. The tenth day was Friday and by Sunday I was feeling sick again. Today my fever is back and I've got razor blades in my throat again.

Should I go back to the doctor for this again or just hope that it goes away quickly.

I did everything I was suppose to. I swear I sprayed every square inch of the house with Lysol to kill all the germs, I replaced my toothbrush, I took all my antibiotics and I even started taking vitamin C...so what did I do wrong??? Between me and DH (who was also sick with me last time) we have 4 more antibiotic pills left (for some reason, Eckard always puts in a couple of more) so I plan on taking those and hopefully that will get rid of it. Or should I not bother with that and just go back to the doctor???

Go to the doctor. Strep, left untreated can cause Rheumatic fever and can damage your heart. It happened to a guy I went to school with.

Was your husband treated at the same time? Strep can be passed back and forth. Need to treat both of you together to get rid of it sometimes.

Yes, DH was taking the same antibiotics as I was. He actually tested negative for strep when we went to the doctor but she decided since mine was positive the chances of him having strep were pretty high and he could have just had a false negative. She didn't want to take any chances so she treated us both. DH isn't feeling sick at all though and it's just me this time. It's like I have no immune system or something :(

Go to the dr, My son was on his 10th day of antibotics and was complaing again he is 6 yrs old, and we took him back and he tested postive for strep again. then a month later he had strep again, took antibotics again and here a month later he woke up an is complaining again so iam having him checked again tomorrow for strep. .He had his tonsils and adnoids taken out at 20 months old.

Another vote to go back to the Dr. The antibiotic that you were given may not have been the one needed to get rid of the bacteria. Often times people have to go through a few rounds of different antibiotics.

Did you wash ALL of your bedding/pillows too?

Yep i do, they said if ds has it again they are going to test to see if he is a carrier. I don't know how the test for that.

Go back to the doctor. I was on 3 different antibiotics for 3 weeks for and upper repiratory infection.

Go back to the doctor. Anything like that takes at least 2 rounds of antibiotics for me. It can be very frustrating. Don't forget to eat some yogurt too.

Hope you start feeling better REAL soon!

When I had strep the one thing that made me feel better was Cotton Candy. Yes, Cotton Candy has been shown to cure nearly all ailments. Think about it, when was the last time you saw a carney who had strep? That's what I thought. So if you want to give credit where credit is due, come over to the Fair Food poll and vote for Cotton Candy, the medicine for what ails you.

Man...I was affraid everyone would say go back to the doctor. She offered me a shot the first time around, so maybe I should go back and get the shot :(

I have to go to work tomorrow because I'm filling in for an official reporter at the courthouse and their starting a trial tomorrow. There's nothing on the docket Wednesday though so I'll make an appointment tomorrow for Wednesday morning.

How are you feeling today? Any improvement? I sure hope so!

Thanks for asking. I'm feeling MUCH better today. The fever went away and the throat has gone from being extreamly sore to just being scratchy. I decided against going back to the doctor because normally if you're not running a fever she won't give you any more antibiotics to avoid overusing them. I sprayed the house down with Lysol again, so hopefully I can get rid of this for good.

Glad your feeling better however do keep a watch on it. Strept throat if not treated right could be deadly.

Another thought is to take a daily multi-vitamin. Good luck!
