Why all these long walks?

My name is, Madthemouse....and I'm a recovering Walker.

Why does WDW have such long walks for us? We have all read the incredible, and at times, the very moving, yet true stories of these long journey's. This may be difficult for some to read. But this is my story and some of the pitfalls, that I must navigate on every trip to WDW, as a recovering walker.

Why are the walkways at the BWV so far from the elevators?

If they are a foot.....then they must be a mile. And just to make matters worst, BWV put a staircase almost directly across from my room. Which happen to exit to a nice walkway near the bridge to the parking lot and bus stop. They dangle the carrot in front of me....and like a fool I went for it. If they could only get the bathroom closer to my bed.

How about those long walks to the bus stops? What's up with that?

And of course their going to put your favorite dining place at the other end of the park. That was designed that way to make you even hungrier then you already are. Thank you Disney Imagineers.

Don't even get me started on your favorite rides. We all know that they're never together, never mind being in the same land (That would be just way to convenient for me), or how about..... near the entrance. Sorry.

What about dinner and entertainment. So we're off to see our favorite show La Nouba. Not so bad, we park in the back lot, a nice walkway to the West Side and dine at Bongo's. Just a hop, skip and a jump to La Nouba, right? That would be, "Oh so true" if we were not having dessert at Ghriardelli's (Just love their Sundaes), way over on the other side of DD (That's Downtown Disney) not Darling Daughter. I mean... I do have a daughter, I'm just not sure how Darling. Maybe she won't read this. :rotfl2:

Once again, the Imagineers not only did not consult with me, and they did not take me into consideration when designing WDW, how insensitive.

Anyway, I could go on and on. But I'm sure you have your own Horror stories that must be told and shared with the masses, when it comes to the looooong walks you must transverse while at WDW.

But this is not about you, it's about Me, as it always is.

Thank you, for letting me vent.

After all, how are we suppose to maintain our overweight physiques if we have to walk so much!!

:rotfl2:

Walk at Boardwalk? It's nothing if you have stayed at AKL Kidani which has the endless hallway to nowhere (Sarah Palin, of bridge to nowhere fame, where were you when this was happening)--walk there from lobby to last rooms in north wing is over 1/4 mile about 3X the longest distance at BWV.

Long walk to bus stops at parks was obviously designed to make you so happy to actually reach the stop and get on the bus that you won't complain about the long bus ride for busses that stop at multiple resorts (just gives you more time to rest up from that long walk you just had).

Putting the good rides far from each other in the parks and away from the entrances, the restaurant on the other side of the park from wherever you are, and making the walk to La Nouba forever from the east side of Downtown Disney? That is imagineers with marketing genius because it gets you to stop along the way in all the different merchandise stores.

Shortest walk at WDW -- the 18-hole golf courses because you are required to pay for and take a cart.

I have the answer! DLR. Everything is more compact. Less walking. I think I read somewhere that the two parks in CA have 80% of the rides in all four of the parks in FL.

But this is not about you, it's about Me, as it always is.
:lmao:

As my sister once said

Me me me. It's all about me. Enough about me. What do you think of me??

Anywhoo, I agree 100% with your post!

PS I love going to the other park that shall not be named.
They have covered parking, close to parks, and walkways that move your faster!:goodvibes

Why all the long walks? So you stop along the way and smell the flowers of course.

So true!! :rotfl:
We stayed at Kidani in Nov. The walk to our room was looong! I do love the resort, but the last thing I want to do after a long day at the parks is walk a 1/4 mile to my room.

Just one question madthemouse: As a "recovering walker" are you in a ....

12 step program?????????????????:dance3:

The answer is simple...
After you eat a dozen zebra domes, 3 turkey legs, slice of key lime pie & a eat your way around the world at Epcot you need to walk all those calories off.

Let's just say, "I feel your pain."

special walking socks work better than anything else. They sell them at sporting goods store.

Don't forget the Mickey Bars, Popcorn, and French Fries. Hell, a Dole Whip is about the healthiest thing I eat during our stays at the World. :crazy2:

If you want to really appreciate the buses at WDW, rent a car. The parking lots at the parks are soooooooooooo far away from the entrance that they have trams to take you there. But there are never there when you need them so you have to walk. WALK. UGH! :upsidedow

I was in a 12 step program for walkers. It did not work for me. I'm not saying that the program does not work. I'm sure it does. I have seen the impact for others, and they have been able to stay away from walking for years.

For me, I relapsed and I'm back into waliking again. :sad1:

This would be true if one didn't have to stand on the bus, dangling from a thin loop of canvas, like a side of beef in a butcher's freezer, while the bus comes to a jarring stop at 95 other resorts on the way to the park. But, who's complaining? Any day at Disney is better than a day at work, right? :rotfl:
